Isn't it!! Once you start building BFM and hear that lush clean sound, you start finding excuses to build more!!hifibob wrote:Im gonna jig a few more cabs that I've been dying to try out soon, like a Titan, maybe a AT or possible a DR200 lol I'll prob have to try them all..

Great builds by the way Bob... I am in awe of your skills!

That steel cage looks plenty beefy; you could probably support a car with it...a few DRs will be nothing for something like that, and that's exactly how you want something "structural" like that. Overbuilt.
BTW, how will the DRs be "held" on each set of L-angle irons?
And that herd of T60s....good gawd! I'm sure the mathematicians on the board will say that due to the overly-long line of subs, you will be "-2db at 73.54Hz on the sides" or something like that, but the bottom freaking line is that the room is going to be so pressurized with deep, solid bass that WHO CARES about the -2db of what-the-hell-ever?!
You should be able to do 110db easily anywhere in the room...or in the county for that matter.
Looking forward to more pics and congratulation and good luck with the opening!

Ya mike I've been known for taking thing to the extreme lol.. This thing is beefy as all hell! the speakers will be held in by bolting through the bottom of one cab through the angle iron and into the top of another cab.. I'm a nervous nelly when it comes to safety stuff hence the reason for not flying them..miked wrote:That steel cage looks plenty beefy; you could probably support a car with it...a few DRs will be nothing for something like that, and that's exactly how you want something "structural" like that. You need to go to some EDM shows. 130dB @ 40hz center of dance floor would be the ideal target, maybe 134dB for headliners. I'm sure his system could do that on the lowest settingsmiked wrote: You should be able to do 110db easily anywhere in the room...or in the county for that matter.

In progress:
2 x DR250 2510/asd1001
For best results, point the loud end of the array towards the audience

Yeah, I about laughed when I saw 110db since a system like that is pretty much enough for a small music festival 130db more like. That rig is easy ear damage material.CoronaOperator wrote:130dB @ 40hz center of dance floor would be the ideal target, maybe 134dB for headliners. Bob, how wide is your stack of subs?
You might need to do some extra delaying as the outermost cabs are quite far apart. Here is a paper that Rog Mogale did on arraying bass cabs A practical guide to bass arrays. might be of interrest to you.

Life is just a game, don't take it to seriously!

So true fellas!! Insane sound levels are a must in the EDM scene.. You need a lot of horsepower to excite this crowd
Bas the total width is 20 feet.. Somebody a few pages back had said I may need to delay the outer cabs but I think Bill said it wasn't necessary. I will look into it a little deeper that's for sure.. I had planned to hire bill for his services to help me tame this beast but been trying to get the club wrapped up first. I am finally close

It's absolutely great to have "way more gun than necessary." I.E. killing a fly with a bazooka. It's great to have the capability to bust people's eardrums and I'm all for damn loud and clear, but there comes a point when "too loud" really IS too loud and then you're just hammering people. Only those spaced out on PCP or the like don't realize (or care) that their ears are bleeding. Once you get to a certain SPL, the music loses all detail and it's just one big "sonic smush."

I hear ya mike.. The extra power is good for short bursts, usually on a long build with a humungous drop, then you gradually pull it back down.. But when it drops you want it to hit like a sledgehammermiked wrote:It's absolutely great to have "way more gun than necessary." I.E. killing a fly with a bazooka. Re: The journey begins.. 16 T60's and 12 DR280's!!
THANK YOU BOB!! I understand that everyone says that Bill's estimated audience figures are conservative, but I do free parties, and there is NO-WAY that I would want to do shows using Bill's crowd to sub figures... I'd get laughed out of the place. I'm with you Bob, the more (clear) SPL the better! I'm currently running 4 T30s and 2 Otops for parties of about 100 people and I'm planning another 2 of each as I feel that this rig isn't quite loud enough.hifibob wrote:So true fellas!! I'd love to come visit some day Bob... probably never going to happen in the short time frame before you destroy the building, but

To bad your so far away!! We got some huge acts booked already! Our soft opening night on the 27 of Dec we have Terravita performing and theyy will shake the roof loose! In January we have Aly & Fila, Alex Metric and Destructo and Febuary is going to be ridiculous! I wish some of the BFMer's could come!escapemcp wrote:THANK YOU BOB!! My figures assume that both the operator and audience are sane, and don't have ambitions of going prematurely deaf.escapemcp wrote:I understand that everyone says that Bill's estimated audience figures are conservative, but I do free parties, and there is NO-WAY that I would want to do shows using Bill's crowd to sub figures...
