SLA's and TTLS

Hi

Just wanted to post some thoughts and images of my SLA's and TTLS.
First off I would like to say thanks to Mr. Fitzmaurice for designing some amazing speakers and making them available to the rest of us for a very reasonable cost.
I'm blown away at how clean and loud the SLA's play, our 17yr old grandson even commented when I played some Deadmau5 that he had never heard the song sound so clean and clear before.
Also the look on my neighbour's face when I told him the table was the sub-woofer and when his pants started to flap, priceless :hyper: .
Speaking of the sub, it's incredible that it takes very little power to drive it and sounds fantastic. If any of you have seen the movie "World War Z"the scene in Israel where they duck into the building and throw the grenades at the zombies the second grenade going off ,you feel the pressure in your chest, awesome :loler: . Another great thing about the sub is that it does not draw attention to itself, friends have commented at the awesome bass coming from the mains.
I'm very pleased as being placed in the centre of the room not so ideal but works well. I still may build another sub but being a small room 9ft by 16ft we'll see :) .
I hope the pictures turn out okay besides being a speaker building noob I'm also not very good with computors.

Looks great!

If I hadn't a bunch of money in my Klipsch, I'd have a complete BFM 9.2 system.

Hi Thanks for the compliments.
Tom the screen is from Elunivision 106" and the projector is the BenQ 1250 both bought from good old Costco. I couldn't pass up the deal they had on the projector at $899 including glasses :hyper: .

Wow! That is one clean setup. Top shelf all the way. Love seeing the TT as an actual coffee table. Very trick.
Good food, good people, good times.

Isn't the TTLS vibrating anything at all? Are you not able to locate the sub at all? If that's so, this is really amazing!

Hi Radian and Osse

I'm real pleased with the way the sub turned out, both visually and sonically. I think with the extra birch ply, solid wood and ceramic tiles for the top it's got to be around 130 to 150 lbs  . I also feel I got lucky with the position as it is not ideal but no complaints as it draws no attention to itself, only when I turn the sub amp off and the bass fades, do people believe it's a sub :loler: .

Thanks Ketoet the sound is pretty amazing. The great thing also, is that my wife absolutely loves the room and buys blue-ray movies for us to watch :hyper: .
Here are some shots of the theatre, not speaker related hope that's okay

Cheers

you're lucky to have a wife that supports you're audio hobby.
at first my girlfriend thought that all those speakers where unnessesary until
she heard the tlah's for the first time. now i even got the ok for a full size THT.
i like the lighting in the ceiling by the way, are those led's ?

Hi Ketoet
Have to agree with you there about the support, very lucky :) .
The lighting is LED it came with a controller for different effects and colours, pretty cool and wife approved :loler: .

Cheers

I have something very close to this combination (TLAH, SLA center, T60 (until I build a THT)). Let's just say it kicks major ***. I love showing off the speakers. One suggestion friend is that (in my case) the highs sound much better out of the center channel if you are able to get it closer to ear level (mid screen). If the screen isn't audio transparent then you've done the best you can but you may try putting the speaker where it sounds the best and it will probably take about 10 minutes for you to realize that you're blocking a portion of the screen :))). My SLA center is about 3 ft higher than Ideal so it really does a great job for everyone that is standing (party room) while the mains cover the seated audience.

Looks mighty well finished, good job!
Built
2 x TLAH
1 Titan 39 (lab 12, 15 inch)
1 Tuba 60 (lab 12, 20 inch)
SLA Center
2 x Mini MLTP subwoofers
1 x 212 TH (custom)
2 x Mini-Karlsonators
Owned, but not built
2 x Jack 12 (2512, melded)
