What is the distance from the back of the front seat to the tailgate? Is it over 5 feet? Foresters are a little more than some of the things I've looked at but they aren't any more than the outback. I'll take a look.

For the money you want to spend, I'd go with an SF generation (98-02). Make sure the head gaskets and timing belt have been replaced, unless you want to do it yourself. I've done it and it's not bad but you pretty much have to pull the motor.

dilema - " I don't have anyplace secure to park it ".
the biodad solution - go to menards and get a concrete colume ( hollow heavy cardboard item that you fill with concrete for poles, posts). bury it 3 or 4 feet into ground, fill with concrete, have 2 or 3 feet above ground, chain trailer to it and forget it.

my wife once haughtily said " i dont want some big ass ugly pole out in the yard with a trailer chained up to it". so now there is a big ass ugly pole with her chained up to it. . .

seriously, slam NRA stickers all over everything, criminals dont like crime whern there is a death sentence attached to theft, and install motion detector lights all over the trailer area, insure it and end the game. plant a flagpole there and chain it to that if ya want. remember, NRA stickers dont kill people, husbands who come home early kill people.

Personally, I live on a main street, about a mile from City Hall. Hundreds of cars drive by my house every day as there are three schools on my street... but during the daytime hours there's very little traffic. My truck was broken into once (pretty sure by teenagers, judging from what they took) while I was in my home office. I heard the alarm going off and walked outside to find it rummaged through.

I don't like to invite crime by leaving a trailer - even if it's chained up - in my front yard. It simply won't work for me, as I like to eliminate as much risk as possible.

Ok so I checked out a forester yesterday and it is only 37 inches between the wheel wells, aka not enough for 2 T60 at 20 inches each. Today I hope to check out a previa which as we know is huge and would fit a lot of bfm gear. I like the hitch idea but my problem is not with theft so much as it is my dad doesn't like the idea of towing and we have no where we could even fit a trailer on our property (lawn is fenced off and well I would get thrown out of the house if I took down the fence).

I rocked a Previa for a couple years. Worked fine. Fit my T60 27" amps etc. I had berry tops back then.

Trailers are premium. If you can park them somewhere. Or in my case I use a $500 '75 Dodge rapevan to store my gear parked on the street. Use it for local gigs and rent trailers for road gigs.

My Outback is 40 inches wide between the wheel wells, but unfortunately the hatch is too small to fit the sub in sideways. And for the record, my last Dodge Caravan was rotting away when I sold it with 280k miles, but the engine was still going strong.

Yours may be but the model I can afford has 37 inch wheel wells :*( I measured. It did however have the vertical clearance to fit the T60 (30 inch side up and 60 inch length deep).

Hey so I bought a Ford Focus Wagon SE Manual transmission. I measured it and after I remove the (easy) back seat then I can fit a pair of T60's, although that would be all. Thing is I wanted something gas economical and it is still zippy to drive. I have a DJ partner so their will always be another car. So I could take tops (front seat) and subs and he would take amp rack, lights, truss, etc...

wow, they fit in a focous? I can JUST get 2 t48s at 18"... well, 1 18" 1 24" in my buddies with the seats folded down. didnt know you coud remove it though.

BTW if I buy/build a 18-19 inch wide one I could just barely squeeze 2 in there. I thought it would be relatively easy to fit 2 20 inch wide cabs but due to the roundover it is more like one 20 and one 18-19. Did I mention I get 30 MPG? Of course if you have to fit other gear then 1 T60 is all it will do. But I have about 19 inches of opening left to insert an amp rack on it's side and a pair of Jack 10's (small but potent). As you can see in the picture, throw a top next to the subwoofer and you have a portable block party as soon as you open the gate.
