The MWM was fine it it's day, 30 years ago, but with a 50Hz corner frequency it's not a subwoofer.billyum wrote:I want to see a Mega-Horn shoot out.

Now that brings back memories!
Re: The journey begins.. 16 T60's and 12 DR280's!!
Thats quite the rig you have! I'd love to be part of some sort of shoot out. I plan to build an army of cabs this winter once my venues are finished. My goal for next year is to be able to hold outdoor events. My resident DJ currently holds many events outdoors and they rent all the equipment and I'm not that impressed..billyum wrote:I want to see a Mega-Horn shoot out.

Those 280 innards look incredible. They look like they were constructed from CNC'd parts. Your woodworking skills just blow me away, Bob. Good luck w/the rest of the build. Keep the pics coming!

Thanks bud i appreciate the kind words!! I wish I was getting more done but its been so hot and humid I had to take a brake. Next week is looking a lot better though. I did bend all the plywood for the back halves successfully (I was dreading it). Oddly the PL has been acting weird and I think its from the extreme heat and humidity. What do you guys think? Maybe I should of used silicone to seal this.miked wrote:Those 280 innards look incredible. They look like they were constructed from CNC'd parts. Your woodworking skills just blow me away, Bob. It's probably so hot and humid that it's curing before it can fully expand. I'd just fill the butt cracks with another application, spread it uniformly with a piece of plywood scrap cut to the right width.

Spray the area with water and make it mildly damp - then apply the PL It's curing too quick with your current conditions.hifibob wrote:Oddly the PL has been acting weird and I think its from the extreme heat and humidity. What do you guys think? Maybe I should of used silicone to seal this.

ahhh I had a funny feeling its was the heat.. Do you think it still has its bonding strength still? Figures this happens on the area I really need the bonding strength, that curved ply has a lot pressure on it.. Thanks guys

For all the effort you are putting into them, cut that mess of PL out and re-due the area using the technique Bill explained. A little perseverance now will prevent future problems.

It's probably just the camera but, that doesn't even look like PL to me. This stuff, not the 8X is what most are using.

2X OTop 112, 3012HO, melded - 2X T39, 27", Lab 12 - XF 212 - 4 DR250, 2 melded, 2 straight
2 20" T39 3012LF - WH10 - WH8 - in the shop - 2 more 20" T39s

RELAX!! It says in the plan to use PL!!! Besides Im putting a back panel on so you wont even see it.. I was just curious about the weird reaction I was getting..DJPhatman wrote:For all the effort you are putting into them, cut that mess of PL out and re-due the area using the technique Bill explained. Its definitely PL.. Its the same tube I've been using but the weather has been insanely hot and humid..ripNdeb wrote:It's probably just the camera but, that doesn't even look like PL to me. This stuff, not the 8X is what most are using.

Re: The journey begins.. 16 T60's and 12 DR280's!!
Its the weather. I would leave it as it is and add a layer over top of what is there already. I had the same problem in the same place on 2 of my DR250's and the fix worked very well.
If you are using the back covers you can pile on as much PL as you want in this area as it will not be seen once the cover is in place. Just make sure that you are consistent from one cab to another on your application so it does not change the resonant frequency of the cab in that area.
As Harley had stated a light sprits of water from a spay bottle will help keep that from happening on future joints in this kind of weather.
Keep up the good work.
