Bass guitar rig

#1 Post by rec »

Sooooo I have a hankering to try and learn to play bass. My question is if I already own OT12's, gx5 amp and a DRPA+, could I build a t39 and sit a OT12 on top of the
t39 as a bass rig for learning. I know its crazy overkill but I own every thing except the t39. Plus if I build a pair of t39's I will still have a nice PA for yard parties and such.
Thoughts??
My initials are in the view finder of every camcorder (REC)
2xOT12(Deltalite 2512 loaded, w/melded arrays)
2xOT12(Deltalite 2512 loaded, w/flat array) "In Process"
4xT30(24", 4012HO loaded)

That would be ok. A great PA, but not a great bass rig. A huge part of any instrument is tone, and with electric bass, the amp and speaker are components of the tone. At the least, you will need a preamp or simulator to feed into your PA bass rig.

played bass through a 24" t48 and an otop the other week for the first time. lows sounded great, but I could NOT get the mids dialed in the way I wanted.

4x Otop12 d2512 loaded
8x t48s (18, 18, 24, 24, 30, 30) 3015lf loaded
2x AT (1 mcm, 1 gto 804)
2x SLA Pro (dayton pa6, 6 goldwood piezo loaded)
1x bastard XF208

2x OT212 (delta pro 450a loaded, eminence psd)

So maybe my time would be better spent building Jack 12's as I have seen a number of people using those successfully for bass. Then I can double duty them for PA when needed.

That's because commercial bass cabs are essentially big midrange speakers.
