T39 and Jack in HUGE room.

Last weekend, I had to provide sound (and be the DJ) in a huge room. The place is an old church, converted into a theater/concert place. Very high ceilings (more than 40'), vast floor area and little wall treatment. The in-house system is 4 big QSC 15" Tops with 8 18" subs powered by thousands of watts. I heard this kit a couple times and it's not bad. The people paying me didn't want to pay the venue to use their system: they wanted me to provide it (I was cheaper...) The plan was to bring 4 T39 and 4 J12 and hope that it does the job.

Last minute change of plans and I had to be able to carry my 3 kids that same day. There was no way to fit the 4 T39, 4 Jacks, amp rack, boxes of wires and the 3 kids in the Dodge Caravan. I brought only 2 T39, and 2 J12.

Once I finished to unload and plug all the wires, I played a song at medium volume and eqd to taste. It sounded much better than what I remembered of the [expensive and bulky] in-house kit. I had no problem to get to deafening levels on the dancefloor, which I really didn't need. My kit was coasting all night while the kids danced. The additionnal gear I planned on bringing initally would have been a waste of time and energy.

People really enjoyed their night and I realised (again) how I love the T39.
