DEQ + DCX running stereo
DEQ + DCX running stereo
The DCX I've pretty much got figured out but, how would I EQ the sub if using both channels on the DEQ? Do it manually and use the EQ in the DCX for any correction?

Re: DEQ + DCX running stereo
Mine runs stereo and I use a little of the graphic to mirror the response of the subs and the tops I do with the parametric, but each one works on the whole stereo mix. Hope that's of some use.ripNdeb wrote:The DCX I've pretty much got figured out but, how would I EQ the sub if using both channels on the DEQ? Re: DEQ + DCX running stereo
Just check your settings on the DEQ to make sure you are running in stereo and not dual mono, to make sure your tops are running in stereo. IIRC that's in "setup".
Since you have a DEQ, I wouldn't do any EQing on the DCX.
The DCX will handle crossing of course, but remember that the sub output should be summed, so, yes, change the EQ on the DEQ for your subs and all is good...

Re: DEQ + DCX running stereo
So, let the Xover in the DCX do its job and EQ both channels from the DEQ, be it lows or highs. Channel 3 or C, whatever, in the DCX is summed and sent to the sub amp? Auto EQ with everything running at the same time? I'm still looking for a field with electricity big enough to do this.
I'm so close; this is great. I auto EQd in my living room and got some very strange results LOL.

Re: DEQ + DCX running stereo
Yes. My DCX does only crossover and limiting. My DEQ does only graphic and parametric EQ. Honestly, on the autoEQ, I'm not sure myself. I wasn't sure how long to let it run...and it seemed to keep going. I've just not played with it enough, even with all the time I've had it. I want to investigate that some more. For now, I get close enough by ear with 1-3 bands of parametric.

Here ya go...ripNdeb wrote:So, let the Xover in the DCX do its job and EQ both channels from the DEQ, be it lows or highs. Channel 3 or C, whatever, in the DCX is summed and sent to the sub amp? DCX (setting it up manually rather than with the software):
So left channel into A, Right channel into B
Then "recall" Stereo with 1 sub preset, "are you sure" push "ok"
(Doesn't matter if your using more than 1 sub, just patch one sub amp channel to the next so the subs are running in mono and crossover the subs at 100Hz or less and they will be unidirectional)
That will automatically sum channel A and B on whichever is the sub output. You will find the sub ouput labelled on one of the output buttons marked 1 through 6.
DEQ:
Yes, run your autoEQ. Regardless of what frequencies you select, you will not see any appreciable change below 100Hz, because autoEQ doesn't work so much below 100Hz.
So go to "GEQ" after autoEQ use the large right wheel to select frequency and the upper small right dial to increase/decrease that frequency. Or you could do something similar with PEQ over multiple frequencies. You're looking to bump up the 50 to 80 Hz region...

Re: DEQ + DCX running stereo
You basically let it run until it stops changing (sound and freq lines); about a minute or so. Then press the 'B' (done). It still makes noise so, press the RTA button again and you should see your 'curve'.doncolga wrote:Yes. My DCX does only crossover and limiting. My DEQ does only graphic and parametric EQ. One thing I did notice when I did my 'room' measurements is the 250Hz was pegged no matter the mic placement. According to the spl chart, this could/should not be right. Still learning so not too worried yet. Thanks guys,
