yeah, I thought of that. I left enough slack that they jacks can be pulled out (with work due to PL) but not too much slack so that the wires are rubbing/vibrating against the panels within.byacey wrote:A little too late, but this is exactly why it's not a good idea to PL anything that you might have to remove for servicing. In the future, if you do put the jacks on a dished plate, or even fastening the jacks directly to the wood with screws, ensure you have about a 4 inch loop of wire inside so the assembly can be pulled out and away from the box for soldering, etc.chenry78 wrote: i sealed them with pl too, i think they will be ok. the real question is whether or not i wired the jacks together properly.

Re: Titan 48x8 build
Oh man the jig saw was screaming tonight
Not gonna lie, that took awhile!
So should I hit the fronts and inside cutout parts with a round-over bit? My concern is that the bit wont get into the little square and triangular grooves inside the braces leaving considerable portions of the inside cutouts without the round-over effect. Also, I worry that if I do the front of the braces or the long end not up against the panel, that i could damage the tip on top, causing problems with mounting them to the panel.
Let me know what you guys think. I just think the round-over would really make the braces look better and the boxes more professional.

Is that a small router table I see on the floor? If so, you should be able to put a gentle roundover (1/4"?) on there with no problem. Not sure how well you can roundover INSIDE the cutouts, but the outer edges should be cake. Looking GREAT! Keep it up!

After using a router round-over bit, you could use a file (round or semi-round) to touch up the last little bit, if you want.

Just run the router bit inside of the cutout and flip the piece to do the other side. Job done!

Re: Titan 48x8 build
I am in the process of sanding and mounting the final side on all these boxes. Got four sides mounted and three boxes sanded at this point. Ill post some pics soon of the boxes after they have been sanded. They look pretty good. Only issue I have ran into at this point is the bottom bracing. I am thinking that those should go on last for sure. On a couple I am having problems lining the bottom panel up. I am getting them but I have had to knock the braces of the bottom panel in order to pull the bottom panel out enough to line it up with the final outside panel. Plus it would be a lot easier to access inside the box had the braces not been installed. It looks like all the panels sealed well with PL so I am not too worried about leaks. If this is the worst issue I have building these (all
for the first time I won’t complain!
I hope I dont have any leaks cause Im not sure I can get up inside those boxes much!

Re: Titan 48x8 build
Here are some random before and after sanding pics, sorry they are kinda rondom and low quality.....almost ready to paint/duracoat!
I get a little outta control with the PL..mostly becasue I dont want to take the chance of having a leak....and partial becasue my woodworking skills are now medocare;
before this project they were just plain bad..but hey, im getting better!

Re: Titan 48x8 build
few more pics. I think they will finish up nice. I had to use a little filler in spots for screw holes and corners..they just look a little rough in the pics but they are really quite smooth and they appear to be very well sealed. Hopefully no leaks!

Re: Titan 48x8 build
Looking good! I agree with going overboard with the PL. Better to not need it than to have a leak. Keep up the good work!

+1 PL is cheap, compared to a driver. Besides, they look good from where I'm sitting!miked wrote:Looking good! I agree with going overboard with the PL. Better to not need it than to have a leak. Keep up the good work!
