Just bought my plans, so it's going to be a few days before I get any good pictures up. In the meantime, heres my plan. A 6 woofer 6 tweeter pair of SLAs with the aura ns525 and possibly the goldwood 2"x5" or the GRS 2"x5". Any input on tweeter choice would be appreciated, and it doesn't have to be between those 2 if you think theres a better option. For the sub, I'm still debating wether or not I have room to do 2 separate single TTs or if I should do a dual loaded. But I'm going to use 2 Dayton 8" subs and probably a bash 300 amp. No plan for the XOver as I have yet to actually receive the plans. But heres a quick sketchup of my proposed SLA baffle (8 3/4" x 34 1/4"). It ended up looking more like a SLA pro due to driver choice. What do you think?
EDIT: oh yea, about the room. These will be in a college dorm, apartment style, 2 bedrooms with a common living room that is approximately 12'x15'
EDIT again: I lied about the tweeter, I modeled the sketchup using a GRS 2"x6". I thought this might work better because it plays lower, down to 1.8KHz

Re: SLA and dual table tuba
Brian, may I ask, why not just use the drivers listed in the plans?
My plans are 7 years old, but they included driver options that were available at that time. I am thinking you might want to use the Goldwood GT-302 1/2" Mylar Dome Tweeter that has been used with great success.
As for the subwoofer, a TT or 2 is a wonderful choice! The Dayton driver you linked is much more expensive than the recommended 8" MCM 55-2421 driver. In rooms as small as you describe, 2 smaller TT would be better than 1 dual loaded TT. You would be able to smooth the room modes with 2. You can still run them from 1 amp just fine. It will be way more than enough to bring the

Didn't have the plans yet, but yea I already switched to the gt302. Going to order everything tomorrow. And I realize two subs are better than one, just not sure if I will have enough room for two. Plus, it would be easier to just do one build. I'll clear that up with my roommate and we'll see.

You could make two TTLS. Taller, but it uses less floor space....if you want to stand it on end.

+1 The form factor is a lot easier to blend into the environment.Tom Smit wrote:You could make two TTLS. Taller, but it uses less floor space....if you want to stand it on end.

Proper order:bcdaffin wrote:Didn't have the plans yet, but yea I already switched to the gt302. Going to order everything tomorrow.
1. Figure out what you want/can fit/afford/fits your needs
2. Order proper plans
3. Read plans, then reread plans
4. Double check step 1 then move to step 5
5. Order parts
6. Start a build thread
7. Build with lots of pics
8. Enjoy and write a review.
9. Realize you are sick and have a illness only more building can treat
Follow the proper order!!!!
Much better, and if you build 2 you can always set them beside each other so it is the size of one dually, until you either move, rearrange furniture or get a new roommate.bcdaffin wrote:And I realize two subs are better than one, just not sure if I will have enough room for two.
