Not that I think this is a great saw, but it is on sale today at Woot.com until 10pm pacific time. It is the Scheppach brand (Festool wannabe) plunge saw for $119.

Here is a comparison between the Scheppach and the Festool.

Re: Cheap track saw on sale today only
Hey, thanks for the tip.
I bought two of them this morning, one for myself and one for a Fathers Day present for my father. That way I can borrow his guide rails when I need to rip full 8' sheets.
I have a big table saw with an extension already, but the wife is not a willing carpentry assistant when I need help ripping, and the kids are too young to be of much assistance. For the price, this seems like a bargain for what I should be able to get out of it.
The plunge saw itself seems to be identical to the Grizzly:

The only difference is Grizzly requires you to buy the guide rail (which for them is 55") and the Sheppach comes with two 25" rails. I have read that these are the same rails, just different lengths, and are compatible.

Hope the saws work out for you. Ian on the board here tried one out. The rail was warped and he wasn't real impressed with the quality overall. The review I posted didn't make it sound too bad tho.

Re: Cheap track saw on sale today only
I have been looking at track saws for a while and that deal gave me the push to finally buy one. The Festool is way too expensive for my non-professional use, so I have been looking for the best deal on one of the imitations for my speaker cabinet building and home construction / remodeling projects.
From what I have seen, that particular saw is sold under at least three different brand names. An old friend has a version marketed by WoodStar and he says it works great for him and would recommend it.
I will try to remember to do an update on this post next week after I have had a chance to play with it. Thanks again for taking the time to post that deal - since I was planning on buying one anyway, it was like getting two for the price of one!

Re: Cheap track saw on sale today only
The saws arrived and I had a chance to test them out last night. I did a few test cuts, and then used them to rip some sheathing for a construction project I am doing. After those cuts all went well I used in parts for a speaker cabinet I have under construction.
After I had ordered it I saw in the BFM archives some other builders had with this saw and some of it "twin brothers" and had problems. But my tracks were straight and there is no wobble. As far as I am concerned I got a great deal.
I didn't really "need" this saw, but I am really glad I got it. I have two table saws, a couple of saw sleds, and lots of jigs that already, and they do everything I need. When contemplating new tool purchases I always look for things that will boost speed or accuracy, and this saw does both of those for me.

Re: Cheap track saw on sale today only
What size and brand of saw blade came with the saw? Hopefully it doesn't require the Festool-only blade. My new Festool blade was $89 by itself.

Re: Cheap track saw on sale today only
The blade is labeled Scheppach and is 6 1/4" diameter with a standard 5/8" arbor hole. The 6 1/4" diameter is a bit of an odd size - I am not sure if I could substitute a more common 6 1/2" size.
Since this saw appears to be the same product that Grizzly has relabeled as their own, they sell a blade for $19.95 that should work.
You might want to find a shop that sharpens circular saw blades and give that a try before shelling out $89 for a new FesTool blade. The cost can be anywhere from $5 to around $20 depending on the number of teeth. I have even seen a DIY sharpener at Harbor Freight for less that $50.
