^ You may have to write that off to experience - no-ones born with it. I have small non-square issues, but part of that was having a non-square square to start with. The issue and methods of checking raw material (wood) for squareness needs to be a sticky somewhere - maybe it is, I don't know, but I don't recall seeing it. It doesn't entirely warrant being ITP.

The easiest method is to measure diagonally from corner to corner, then swap corners and do it again. If the measurement is the same - it's square. Doesn't matter if it's 5x5 or 4x8.Charles Jenkinson wrote:^ You may have to write that off to experience - no-ones born with it. Ya i gave up guys and just squared them all.. I squared 96 sheets of BB and my back is killing me lol.. These 5 foot wide sheets are in some way more difficult to handle because my arms dont want to stretch that far
being shorts sucks! this saw does make quick work of them though

I just added another 10 more T60's to this build so Im flat packing them so they will be ready for assembly when I get a little closer. These suckers take up a lot of space

Im gonna just finish these 2 for now and move on to the DR280 build so I can get that jigged up as well.. I'll build 2 of these as well and I'll flatpack the other 16 of them..

Let me get this straight, you decided to up it to 26 Tuba 60's. My goodness I think you get the award for most T60's built at the end of this journey. You must have bought out multiple lumber yards.

Actually I'm opening 2 Night clubs.. One in Boston and one in Providence.. I was going to wait until next year for Providence but a building came available that I couldn't pass upMissileCrisis wrote:Let me get this straight, you decided to up it to 26 Tuba 60's. Have you thought about getting a CNC mill? It certainly looks like you are processing a lot of wood.
How much bit life are you getting on your router bits you are cutting your dado's with?

If you have any spare time you could become a T60 authorized builder, if there is such a thing
. You'll be so practiced by the end of this that people would gladly buy from you (if they are in your neck of the woods.

I'm seriously considering a cnc. I actually took a trip to audition one but I'm not quite convinced its faster yet. Maybe once I build the DRs I might reconsider that. The spiral bits last a lot longer but can't really be sharpened like the carbide tipped bits. The spirals cut a lot faster though. I cut up all the mouth braces for 12 tubas and the spiral carbide bit still cuts perfect. Keep in mind though its a $160 bit so it better last lol.jrey762 wrote:Have you thought about getting a CNC mill? It certainly looks like you are processing a lot of wood.

If it wasn't so damn big, even flat packed its quite large, I'd help ya out. Shipping has to be expensive for these guys!Rich4349 wrote:While you're at it, I'll take two, please!

I do love building these that's for sure. I'd have to talk to Bill and get the low down on that. Normally I'm not so busy and would love to build speakers..MissileCrisis wrote:If you have any spare time you could be come a T60 authorized builder, if there is such a thing. Re: The journey begins.. 16 T60's and 12 DR280's!!
26 T60s. I keep saying that to myself, just to try and wrap my head around not only what all 26 would sound like at once, but at the sheer amount of wood you have to cut! Ho-lee-crap, that's a LOT of wood! 96 sheets of BB. You probably bought out the entire tri-state supply of the stuff! LOL!
How did you go about squaring up the sheets of BB? I made the mistake of assuming that BB was square right from the lumberyard b/c it's "good, expensive wood." Halfway through my OTop build I realized how wrong I was but at that point I had to fix as I went somehow. It all turned out fine, but lesson learned for me there.
And hell yeah; 5'x5' sheets of BB are a major PITA to wrestle around by yourself. That sliding panel saw you have makes it tons easier though. I set up 4"x4" studs on the floor and use my circular saw guide to rough them to size...typically about 1/2" larger than I need and I final cut it on the table saw. Wastes a lot of wood that way though.
Good luck and keep them pics coming.

I would love to hear them all at once!! They are gonna be divided up between 5 different dance floors.. Although I do have plans in the near future to build an outdoor system for larger areas, but first things first lol..miked wrote:26 T60s. squaring the sheets is pretty easy using the the cross cut fence on the slider.. I first put factory edge against fence and square one corner then spin it to do the next then 1 more time. the last 2 cuts are against the stopper set at 59.5"..
I'll have some more pics tmrw. My Duratex came in so Im going to build 4 at a time do too space reasons..

Before you get too old to want to, you have to bring them all to an outdoor venue and blast them to heck. I imagine you could have a 20 Hz F3 with that many cabs
. If the timing was right I would fly up to see such an awesome event.

As soon as my 2 projects are finished up I will be focusing on building and learning how to assemble sound for outdoor venues.. My resident DJ puts on a lot of outdoor shows and they rent all of the equipment and it just sounds okMissileCrisis wrote:Before you get too old to want to, you have to bring them all to an outdoor venue and blast them to heck. so I been back in the shop and started assembling more cabs.. Now that I have everything flat packed It looks like I can assemble 1-27" t60 and get 1 coat of bondo on in about 8 hours.. AND THE GOOD NEWS I'VE GROWN TO LOVE PL!!
