I noticed that you have run panel 8 full length of the cab, I'm contemplating doing this myself.

I guess that a permanent installation only requires one pair (dependent upon proposed wiring configuration) of jacks, which is likely determined by the cabs ultimate placement. Where will you mount your jacks?

I'm thinking one pair on panel 9 and a second recessed into panel 10 behind 13. I'm racking my brain regarding aesthetics and functionality.

Thank you Titanium.. I figured since these were for permanent install I would just use a hand truck to get them into place.. Im gonna install the jacks in the rear panel up top in that dead space on the 12 T60's going on the main dancefloor and probably on the access covers for the other 4..

Thanks for the kind words byacey, I have a funny feeling you are right Im brainstorming now on the finishing touches so I have a professional look..Painting the mouth ahead of time to get a perfect finish in there has me at a standstill until the duratex shows up.

Im dying to try these amps out, Bill said go "old iron" so I scored these from the INDIANAPOLIS Colts Dome remodel.. they are heavy as all hell!!!

You could of fooled me it looks great!! These are actually very therapeutic to build at slow pace anyhow.. Although the rac is on to get the rest of theses built.

Those braces, total works of art. I'm intrigued with regards to your method of screwing....

Do those screws go in on an angle, like a skew nail?

The drilling procedure? Do you have a special jig to get your angle right, or is it just freehand with a little help from years of experience?

It's done with a pocket-hole jig. The original and most popular is by Kreg.

I might have missed it, but what color are you painting the mouth? If you're lighting them up, white might be a good option instead of duratexing them black? A single layer or two of a thick white primer could be plenty..

Now is definitely the time to paint the mouths. On the unattached side, just mask off the gluelines...being that you have jigs made already, it should be a relatively simple thing to do. I've never built a T60 but from what I've seen the mouth is definitely a huge PITA to paint. I would probably just go nuts with the spray gun (not spray paint) and shoot a gallon of flat black all up in there.

I crawled inside mine with one of those long handled rollers before the front braces went in. Annoying but doable but then I'm a skinny bastard.

It takes more wood. If you've got plenty that's OK, but most builders don't buy excess plywood. The one piece braces are slick too, but materials intensive.

Panel 9's just stupidly convenient to stick a speakon connector or two and run the cable up the 2/8 brace to panel 10 where most people stick the other speakons.

Yes I bought some cool RGB led strips that are DMX controllable that im gonna hide in there behind the braces. I was thinking black duratex even though I know white would pop better.. Im gonna experiment with this first cab and see if black will still give me the effect I'm looking for.

A million thank you's guys.. Im gonna do a test run this weekend with the lights and try the black first and if that fails I'll do white..

I do plan to use my HVLP to at least prime the mouths black since it will be easy to cover all the braces and just incase I miss a few spots with roller and duratex.. What have most of you guys been using for primer? Water or oil base?

Thanks Ian!! A few thing I can suggest if you do that is to cut the 54* angle into panel 7 instead of 8 since its a lot smaller and easier to handle in sled/jig.. Also I noticed most of my 5x5 BB is easily 1/8-1/4" off on its diagonal measurements so re squaring them will reduce the overall length to 59 1/2" so I think I'll make panel 10 a cap rather an insert to give me the proper 60" length

Duratex does not like oil based primers. Duratex itself is water-based and can be thinned with water. Just FYI. Keep up the good work; I really enjoy seeing cabs built w/this degree of skill. Gives me something to shoot for.
