Doug's dual 36" THT LP build
Re: Doug's dual 36" THT LP build
I found if the braces were evenly spaced, they blocked a hurricane nut, no matter how I rotated the speaker, so I prepared the speaker mount and moved the braces to accomodate.
Re: Doug's dual 36" THT LP build
Well, I'm finished and forgot to update any pics because I'm too lazy since I have a 5D and the pics are huge and I have to resize them all for Bill's site. BUT, they sound intense. I had the pair of T48s already hooked up and they are much louder with the same power, but the THTLP pair are deeeeeeeeeeeeep. I like em. Now to save piles of money and finish my basement and cover up all the rattles, build some mains and surrounds, a screen for the projector, some couches, another networking AV receiver, then I'm good to go.
I'll post the updated pics of the build soon, I swear, but I don't think I'll finish them since they will be hidden behind a wall.
Also, wiring in series doesn't work for these drivers, FYI.

Man, that box is HUGE. Bet it sounds incredible, and the fact that you don't have to put a finish on it is iciing on the cake! Congrats!

Re: Doug's dual 36" THT LP build
It is massive, and only one of two. I like how sneaky they will be once hidden behind the wall. It is getting louder too as the hours of play on it grow. I have it hooked up to the family desktop computer where my 8 y/o daughter likes to play games on the Disney channel Club Penguin website while listening to the Justin Bieber Pandora channel. I can hear the garage door rattle from accross the street. I'm so proud of her love of LFE in music, even if it is JB.
Re: Doug's dual 36" THT LP build
Nuturing good, healthy hobbies and interests in our children is very important (I'm being serious). Teaching them an appreciation for music, art, creativity in general, etc is a beautiful thing.
My son is 3-1/2 and "helps" me in the garage when I'm building things. I take scraps of wood and put them on the floor. I give him a cordless screwdriver and bunch of large screws (for ease of gripping) and he drives them in and out of the wood until it's swiss-cheese. Not one screw goes in straight, but that's not the point of the exercise. He's 3, and learning how to use a cordless drill/driver!
Now, I've been working on getting him addicted to the LFE channel, but he is scared of thunder. Yeah, I call him a wuss and Mommy gets agitated. So, sub-bass reminds him of thunder, I guess. He does like explosions and blinky lights though, so it's a start. LOL!
Please post pics of the two subs in their final home!! Would love to see pics of your dedicated theater space.

That's great Mike, I do the same with my kids. Teaching kids actual skills early is so important, and good daddy time as well.
