I have updated plans and can find no mention of slots. Have the slots been eliminated from the plans or am I missing something?Bruce Weldy wrote:Exactly.....miked wrote:this says to me that the 2512 needs the slots, b/c it's not specifically mentioned that it does NOT. .

I have the updated Otop plans as well. The way Bill writes can be confusing for some; it most definitely was for me. But I stick by my original assertion of "Being that the 2512 is NOT specifically mentioned to NOT NEED slots in the baffle, that it DOES need the slots in the baffle."

Re: My Otop 112 Build (pictures)
I'm sorry if I'm beating a dead horse here, but I have seen no mention of slots in the baffle anywhere except this thread. I can't find it on page 4 or 5 of my plans or any where else. The circle size is different for crossover points but that's it. I'm either to dense to find it or it's not there. Page number anyone? I cut my first baffle today without slots for a 2512, hope that's right.

No, that's not right. Do you have the updated plans?racertomtom wrote:I'm sorry if I'm beating a dead horse here, but I have seen no mention of slots in the baffle anywhere except this thread. If so, it's on page 4. The 2512 gets the slots, the 3012HO doesn't.

Re: My Otop 112 Build (pictures)
I got my plans 2-22-13.
Cut the baffle. The circle in the middle is a phase plug. The baffle is laid out by drawing an 8 inch square centered on the baffle, the circle centered within the square. The circle diameter depends on the high frequency crossover. If you are using a compression driver horn with a 1.2kHz crossover the circle is 6 inches diameter. For all other options the circle diameter is five inches. Four ½ inch wide ‘spokes’ connect the circle and square. Drill a ¼ inch hole at each of the corner joints of the four openings, cut along the lines with a jigsaw. For perfectly straight cuts make a sled (see Panel Jig Plans) for your jigsaw. A 212 baffle
"End Page 4"
is the same as two 112 baffles end to end, measuring 14 x 28 inches high. You may use two 112 baffles joined together if you prefer.

Re: My Otop 112 Build (pictures)
Does your plan have pictures? There should be a picture of the baffle with slots and all the dimensions, then another one of the baffle for using a 3012HO.
I don't think the OT12 plans have changed recently. Latest update show to be in 2011. Maybe your pictures aren't loading?

Minor changes occur all the time. Only major structural changes, which in effect render older versions obsolete, get announced as updates.Bruce Weldy wrote: I don't think the OT12 plans have changed recently. Latest update show to be in 2011.
Re: My Otop 112 Build (pictures)
Good to know. Perhaps is worth posting a sticky to this effect? I knew to check that I had the latest plans, but would have assumed mine were fully up to date, as no update had been posted.
Edit: Re-reading the Plans Update sticky, it does mention major structural changes, but I guess that comes down to definition (I'd define anything I can't easily change later as major structural).

I did, many many moons ago:Perhaps is worth posting a sticky to this effect? I knew to check that I had the latest plans, but would have assumed mine were fully up to date, as no update had been posted.
Plans are updated on a fairly regular basis, so before you start on a build you can check with us to see if you have the most current edition. As of April 30 2010 when we issue an update that contains major structural changes we'll post the date of that update in the appropriate forum.
Re: My Otop 112 Build (pictures)
I think the confusion arises from "Plans are updated on a fairly regular basis" which one may assume would be accompanied by an update post, and "check with us to see if you have the most current edition" - I think most would check the forum for this information.Bill Fitzmaurice wrote:Plans are updated on a fairly regular basis, so before you start on a build you can check with us to see if you have the most current edition. "As of April 30 2010 when we issue an update that contains major structural changes we'll post the date of that update in the appropriate forum" could be read as "Major structual change updates will be dated".
I don't mean to pull you apart Bill, but simply point out that this is perhaps not quite as clear as you may think.
