will any rta mic work with drpa

OK I am just being cheap here but do I have to use the DBX rta mic or is it just a standard rta mic and any credible one can be used. I do have an old peavey rta mic laying around and I can get a DBX M2 that is included with the px version for a little under $30. I was thinking even if they are a proprietary response curve that the m2 should be the same as the original.

Any input would be appreciated.

Any mic will work well enough. You should always tweak it by ear afterwards anyway.

To be honest I have always worked by ear but find I'm not nearly as accurate as I used to be. With age comes a crutch in the form of auto EQ to start from. This getting old stuff wouldn't be so bad if I had learned to go lighter and more efficient and actually used some of the shortcuts I had available BEFORE I needed to.

They aren't all perfectly flat, for sure... but mostly so. There's as much variance between different models as there is between multiple units of the same model.

I used my behringer ECM 8000 on my PA+ with good results. As mentioned the majority of the cheap measurement mics are reasonably flat that you can get a good base line with them, but wouldn't use them for critical applications.
