Felix Pappalardi

#1 Post by ncgrove »

I was listening to some Mountain yesterday and I was really liking Felix Pappalardi's bass sound. My guess is he used heavy strings, turned all available knobs up to 11, and beat the crap out of his bass.

Anyone have a more technical explanation as to he got his bass to sound like that?

That's about it. Assuming that he mic'd his cab for at least some, if not all, of the recorded tracks a fair amount of speaker coloration was present as well.
