I have just buttoned up my second Tuba 30 and am now thinking about how I want them to look. I know that Duratech is the given choice but I would like to make them my own so to speak.
One idea I had came to me after watching Amercian Pickers one night when they bought an old Cheap Trick road case from Rick Nielsen. I thought it might be cool to try to finish them to make them look like an old road case complete with stenciled on band names and such. Has anyone ever done anything like this.
I just figured with the wheels and handles and such it might be cool to make them look like a touring flight case or something like that.
Any thoughts?
Different finishes other than plain black
Re: Different finishes other than plain black
The only limitation on how you finish your cabs is your imagination. Want an "odd" color? Contact Acrytech direct, send them a color sample, and they will try to match what you want. Duratex is highly recommended on our site because it is inexpensive, easy to use and it works very well.

if you were trying to make it look like a road case, I'd still use duratex, with the *leather* technique.

The leather technique I think works better with sheets of cheapo drop cloth. The thinnest you can buy. Cut it to roughly panel size, lay it on wet dtx, just kind of smooth it down leaving all the wrinkles and bubbles. Peel it off. They show a pouncing technique. Pouncing is easier, but the sheet looks better.
If it's too loud, you're even older than me! Like me.
