I'm very pleased to see it's not just me having trouble with that part! I feel slightly less stupid now.

For marking the driver holes: http://www.flexbar.com/shop/pc/TRANSFER ... 9p3099.htm. They center the indent perfectly in the driver hole.

As for drilling the hole perfectly plumb, a drill press would do the job. If not then you could make yourself a jig that would do the job. Get yourself a nice 1" - 2" thick piece of brass drilled with a hole on a friends drill press (plumb) with the hole the diameter of your normal drill bit size for drilling driver holes. After you have your jig, you clamp it to your baffle centered on the hole and use it as a guide to drill your hole. Those transfer punches look like they would be great for centering the jig in the indent you just made with said transfer punches. It will turn your handheld drill into a precision plumb drilling guide.




You can buy them already made. Search for "square drill guide"

Used these brass guides many times before and they work great. Sometimes I will use them even with a drill press when drilling soft metals to ensure the drill bit doesn't wander during the initial bite.

Butt two pieces of short boards together. glue the long ends together so that is about 2 inches tall. Put the point of the bit on your mark, place the "ELL" against the bit to contain it, lean the bit so that it is rubbing against both top and bottom of the inside corner. Engage drill.

I'm contemplating popping Speakons on panel 10 at the top in between the handles so internally the cable passes through panel 11 as a precaution. I'd like to pop one on panel 9 too so if the sub is laying down with the mouth facing the corner there's not a cable trailing out the back.

The sockets are these; Neutrik NL4MPR 4-pole.


Was it decided if these were airtight or not as if not I'm going to have to try and sort that. Superglue the shit out of any seams maybe? Also what's the best way to secure the cable internally so it's not rattling around? Would poking a couple of holes in the braces, zip tying and then throwing some PL on them be a somewhat safe plan?

So many questions, I apologise.

Slowly but surely getting there after a few re-cuts of panels due to splits I never noticed at first.



All the panels are cut, the larger braces need to be finished off, handles to sort on the back and the wiring to run then we have the fun of the driver chamber.

If you look closely at this one you'll note the front brace is wrong. Quite how that happened I'm not sure but I decided to scrap the straight ones.






Plunge cut supremacy! If you can make it out, this is the brace shape I put together in my head. It sits a couple of inches back in the mouth and extends back as far as the one in the plans does. The smaller brack behind it has a similar motif because I feel I haven't spent enough time on this sub...



I popped the side on to see and man, it is BIG. It'll look impressive as hell when it's done though.

The sunshine has indeed been a welcome addition to building speakers... I'm off this week so things are getting done. First up the initial beast got some finishing touches:


After I somehow screwed up the straight braces a while back I made these as I was feeling somewhat metal at the time. It's now all been filled/sanded/painted and is good to go.

Next up, number two. Earlier on today:

Both sides and 5 panels (1,2,3,8 and 12) I've actually thought about it this time and things have been easier. No screw ups as yet which is nice. I must also say that this birch ply is the balls. Never again will I make the mistake of buying cheap shit.

What made you decide on making singles opposed to one bohemoth?

I'm so pumped to build one of the duals. I've got a house party coming up July 5th, 100 people have RSVP'd, its indoors in a pretty small place I've almost considered a THT or TT to induce bowel movements however if I make the T60 I feel it will get more future use. Just worried about it being to friggin big for the space.

How do you go moving the T60 around from place to place?
