Loews plywood help.
Loews stocks Plytanium 15/32 x 4 x 8 Pine Sheathing Plywood. Is this wood appropriate for
Otop12/15 builds or Tuba 30/Titan 39 builds? The website's specifications of the product is

Is it 5 or more equal plies?

I cannot tell. The picture on the site is not very detailed and the specs doesn't
even tell you the number of plies.

Re: Loews plywood help.
You have to either call and ask them if it is at least 5 equal plies, or go to the store and verify in person. While you are driving to Loews, stop in at a real lumber yard, and ask for cabinet grade 1/2" plywood. They just might have Baltic birch in 60"x60" sheets. Do not buy any plywood with a thin veneer.

Re: Loews plywood help.
Okay I went to Home Depot to see if I can find any suitable plywood for an Otop12
build I'm planning to tackle real soon. They have several selections but non were
of any good quality. Lots of warps, chipped sides, blotches. Now I as I looked into
the aisle further I came across what I believe to be a pretty good substitute for
Birch. They have a hardwood plywood that's called SandPly. The quality of this
wood was pretty decent in my opinion. It is 1/2", 12mm 4'x8' manufactured with
7 plys and costs $38/sheet. Not bad. So I bought 1 sheet for now just in case
you guys tell me it won't work. So what do you think. Keep it or take it back?
I also made a trip to Loews and they appear to have almost the same selection with
the exception of the SandPly I mentioned above. They did have Blondewood and
they were in excellent condition and contained more than enough plys, but I
remember Bill saying on here somewhere that it wasn't suitable. There are several
lumber yards out here in Atlanta, but for some reason none of them open on the
weekend or they only open for a couple of hours. The only days I have off, yet
I can't go shop for wood. I need a vacation.

As the Phatman said.....find a lumber supplier. Those two places won't have what you want.kenkenni wrote:Okay I went to Home Depot

Call a local cabinet shop. Ask them where they buy their baltic birch. Go there. Buy baltic birch. Build great cabinets.
Atlanta should have multiple suppliers that stock BB. NOT big box stores, NOT lumber yards - lumber suppliers (the guys that sell to the cabinet shops).

Using SandPly from Loews to cut the Otop12 parts listed. Still trying to
get the hang of Cutlist. Does this look about right?

Re: Loews plywood help.
I'm assuming that you are building two OT12s, right?
Add the total number of pieces (what you have times 2) to your cutlist program. It will make better use of your material and help you arrange a better cutting order.

Re: Loews plywood help.
I will be building 4, but I only purchased i sheet at this time to see how all the
parts get cut for one Otop 12 to get a general idea of how many sheets I
will need to do four. What is easier to cut, rip cuts or cross cuts?

Re: Loews plywood help.
Is there a way to get a full screen shot on here without shrinking them
down so much without losing a lot of the detail and quality? My screen
shots look a lot better at there original resolution.

You should not be posting parts dimensions at all.kenkenni wrote:Is there a way to get a full screen shot on here without shrinking them

Re: Loews plywood help.
Sorry Bill, I did not know that. Do I have to delete the diagrams?
Re: Loews plywood help.
I went ahead and removed the Cutlist screenshots from above so as to not
compromise the build plans. But if anyone still have better ideas for getting
the best out of the program as far as cut diagrams go please share.

Re: Loews plywood help.
Try menards. Auraco ply is in recommended and they stock it @ $29/ 4'x8' sheet.
