Using lesser grade ply on internal components is fine - the big advantage to birch is that it resists dents far better due to it's strength. On the mid horn, that's not applicable, though, birch is much nicer to work with.
When trimming the tops of the horn, I would build a small 'L' shaped sled to put it on so your edge with your fence is straight.

Happens to the best of us on the throats. Saw sled, go very slowly.
If it's too loud, you're even older than me! Like me.

Yeah cheers for the advice - just making a sled now. Thought going up against the table saw fence would have sufficed but obviously not lol!LelandCrooks wrote:Happens to the best of us on the throats. Saw sled, go very slowly.

Re: First Omni 15 Full Range build...
And here are the finished replacement horns. I shall very carefully trim them in the morning using the sled/jig I made today. Wish me luck...

You are going to love that jig. Makes trimming of the horns so easy. All Thumbs wrote:So I made a sled/jig....
I built a WedgeHorn some time ago, which has a similar shaped but larger horn that needs to be trimmed down to fit the shell. Super tight fit, and it was dead easy.
Making great progress there Scott. I'm looking forward to you using the pair at full blast first time. Be sure to have some hearing protection. Structural damage to your house may occur

They do indeed look quite a bit better than the first pair. Well done
