Hi all, here is my scenario I'm hopeful I can get some assistance with figuring this out.
What I need to do is limit the sound level at the stage and back stage area, primarily concerned with sub range. Back of house is catering (a mere drape line away and new offices)
The setup is currently dble 15" loaded ported sub boxes (older model Meyer Subs) , 2 either side of a 32' (10m) wide by 20' (6m) stage. 2' (600mm) high Indoor venue.
The dance floor area is directly infront of the stage (touching front edge) and the speakers are placed at either extreme to bookend the stage.
The room is then jam packed with tables for dinner/auction show. Venue about 600pax seated.
The room is wider than it is deep, landcsape format layout.
Approx 100' (30m) x 65' (20m) and not overly tall 24' (7.5m)
The room is a traditional rectangle with main entry on the opposite long side.
forgive the ft approximations - If I have missused google I appolgise!
Current PA is 2 x UPA1's (12 and horn) either side of stage (side by sde) and stacked ontop of the subs.
I'm new to the venue at a change over of venue owners, the PA needs to be updated and I would like to do that with BFM kit. Having found the site here recently I'm pumped with the designs and the folks I've met so far on the site. A credit to all.
Is there a way to create a cardioid sub within the range here? How best would I go about it?
I also feel the UPA's lack coverage at the outside tables and am thinking otop12's x 2per side to replace , not totally sure on the tweeter config. Also considering a single ot12 as a wide delay to increase the width of the sound stage. I have used similar boxes (to the UPA's) in a traditional delay previously with great success down the centre though not quite filling to satisfaction at the wings.
The act's are normally speech dominated and a show band doing a few dance tunes at the end. I am thinking tuba's for the small footprint.
I plan on building some SLA Pro's (4x8's) for the smaller corporate gig's coming up to replace some p.o.s powered 10's, just getting the coin together atm.
So - long winded question but I thought the more info the better, probably too much! The key is to minimise the rear reflection of <100hz!
thanks for your thoughts in advance crew!
cheers,
ben

You may, there are sites that explain how to do it. It requires a delay processor and you have to use twice as many subs and amps as normal, so it's not an inexpensive proposition.benw wrote:
