what a headache!!

#1 Post by Chris Betancourt »

Just got my Dell 860 back from the shop and they could only install windows 7 because windows xp was not able to be installed they didn't have the drivers avail to make it happen  now I have the choice to upgrade my PCI-324 to PCI-424 because I just found out that the 324's has no interface software compatible with Win7.
Solutions:
Upgrading to PCI-424 sets me back $$ and in time to get it done.
Find someone else that could install XP.
Look for a free Comp Tech course and try to fix this crap myself.
Or buy another tower!!!!
:bash:
Any advice punch it in.
Thanks Guys.

Try running it in xp compatibility mode.

Compatibility mode probably won't work since it's driver related but you can download XP mode which is a virtual machine of XP that may do the job. Since the 324 is a PCI card there may be some hoops to go through.

Here is the link to download XP mode: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtua ... nload.aspx

I would not recommend running audio software in a virtual machine. Why not just download the drivers from dell website and reinstall xp yourself?
