Recex speaker screws (square drive) in UK?

#1 Post by Charles Jenkinson »

Has anyone successfully sourced the above screws in the UK? I've seen them on speakerhardware but cannot find them in uk or europe, for use as suggested with neo's. I'm planning to use M6 x 40 hex head coach bolts (wood screw variety) at the moment, but they are not a particularly elegant solution and still need locking washers, theoretically.

I've never seen them but always tend to use hex head screws with sprung washers so I can use a ratchet.

I found, using similar screws to attach my DR250 modules, that there was a very fine line inbetween "almost tight enough" and trying to get a tad tighter, and consequently stripping out the ply.

In the end I had to use 3/16" T nuts, but they could have been 1/4"/6mm.

Anyway, just so you know Charles, take it easy as you get towards "tight enough". And if you find it strips out the ply you have other options...
Built:
DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

What, you don't want to spend $15 in postage for 16 screws? :broke:

You're lovely Leland! (...God knows why my phone wants to call you Orlando)

I have seriously thought about placing another order with you, but various and numerous factors have persuaded me otherwise. Just one was the aluminium BF badges. I have tried to figure out where I can tastefully put a 3x1-1/2 inch badge on a jack lite without full frontal mesh, and it can't be done. So I'm going to botch a 55x27.5mm laminated label and stick it on a local grill in front of the tweeters. Otherwise I would have been all yours.

You'll need it. Aren't you going to the bass bash in Scotland this weekend?

Yep :cowboy: So how do you know? I have not been advertising the trip. Are you a FB regular, if so by what username?

Looking forward to the bash. I will be bringing a couple of basses and my DR250. Not sure about other cabs or gear just yet.
If the weather is going to be anything like today, then the ferry trip is going to be interesting. Probably in for a bumpy ride. I have done that before, the smell in the morning on that boat

David Perry suggested I have a look round FB. I wrote to him off (BF) forum, because he is local to me and made some quantity of BF gear a few years. I'm not on Finbass yet, but if I do go on, have decided my handle will be 'Godsbass': light in de bass darkness. I'm fairly comfortable on the righteous BF forum. Pray for me, i figure i may as well start as i mean to go on, on the evil FB forum.

A nice PA he built back then, DR280s, subs, wedges. Dave is going to be in Moffat as well.
As for the FB forum, it is a small community with its' own sense of humour. My prayers are with you, welcome in advance and may the light be with you in the happy land of the double entendre :fingers:

Edit: going to stuff an extra car amp and the Autotuba in the car for shits n giggles. Since I will be traveling to a bass bash, I might as well enjoy some serious bass in the long hours on the road. If you hear some BOOMMM BOOMMM on Saturday morning don't worry, that would be me on my way up north :cowboy:
