Only time will tell if the hardware holds up to the rigors of use and transport. After only an hour of supervised time on the unit I would feel comfortable gigging with this desk for a large show. The features offered in one package is quite mind boggling when you realize that it can replace a whole rack of gear if needed. Now I am sitting back waiting patiently for a smaller channel count rack mount model to DJ with. If they only made this in a 6-7 channel model with all the features of the X32 and around the $1000 mark I would be all over it. :fingers:

The iPad/PC based digital mixer includes 16 Midas-designed preamps, Ethernet connection for a wireless router, Ultranet for our P16 Personal Monitor system and also a bi-directional 16-channel USB recording interface. Like the X32, it will be remote controllable via iPad and PC (iXControl, XControl).

The unit is also rack and floor mountable for fixed installations.

Aside from the reduced channel count (16 inputs, 8 outputs) it has the same DSP engine and functionailty of the X32.

Delivery is targeted for Q2 2013 and the estimated price will be around US$ 1000."

The studio/Production company I work for has recently bought one and we all love it.
The capabilities are awesome and we havent had any problems yet. It's definitely a step up from the stuff Behringer have been known to produce. One definite advantage of this desk is that it works with ethernet, just set up a ethernet multicore/patch bay and you dont have to run a 48 channel core to the mix position.

Its fairly intuitive too and pretty easy to pick up as far as digital consoles go.
We're located in Melbourne, Australia and we got 2x 24channel ethernet patch panels plus the X32 desk for around $7k I believe.
I'd recommend it if anyone is looking to upgrade.

And they are also releasing 4 other versions of the X32, two smaller normal mixers with 16mic preamps and faders and stuff, and two rackmounted units, one that is just a processor without any preamps or even outputs (it has monitor/headphone outs) so needs atleast one of their digital snakes, and one full rackmounted mixer with 16 micpres, 8 outs and 6line in/outs.

I personally would love a rackmounted solution like their X32 Core, but that hade atleast 6-8 outs, so it could be mounted in a rack with say the monitor amps, and then just run 2xlrs to the FoH amp rack, and then use a digital snake somewhere on the stage. One could do that with the X32 Rack, and if one has the amp racks on stage/very close to the stage, it would work fine without a snake. But if one uses a snake, then you have 16 "wasted" mic pres that you had to pay for ;)
If you could then use either an ipad or something like a mixer surface but without and actual audio in it as an controllsurface, then it would be nice:)

I´d also prefer that they made a version more like the A&H GLD80 or iLive series, a mixer with faders and knobs, but only a very limited number of onboard ins and outs, so that one always uses a digital snake, and not having to pay for unused mic preamps and not having them take up space in the mixer itself. They kinda do that with the X32 Compact and Produser, but still to high I/O count in my opinion;)

I have been having this debate myself. I have had the chance to run shows on the x32 and the studiolive 24 so i am holding out on playing with the SI expression before i decide but from what i have heard it feels the cheapest oddly enough. I like the x32 fetures but we will see how their hardware holds up. :fingers:

Won't be out till summer. If it's anything like the GLD-80 (which is what it looks like), it will kick the collective tails of the other small format digital consoles. The A&H ipad app is far superior to all the others. The only rub is that you can't expand it beyond 16 channels, as you can with all of the others.
99% of the time, things that aren't already being done aren't being done because they don't work. The other 1% is split evenly between fools and geniuses.

I just googled the GLD-80...wow. I kinda like having not too many pres on the board if you're gonna use the snake anyway. All these things are just staggering to me. I don't plan any purchases for several years but it will be interesting to see what's available at that time.
