Review of WedgeHorn 8

#1 Post by Frederic Gelinas »

I finally built some WH8 for my band. The construction process was straight forward. I made 2 or 3 easily fixed mistakes. It wasn't fun to screw the driver in place and there wasn't a lot of room to glue the inside insulation.

These boxes are lightweight and very easy to carry. They need some eq and doesn't have lows at all. The mids and highs really cut through the stage mud. Both singers were amazed at how clearly they could ear themselves, even when the band was playing at ridiculously high levels (think metal drummer loud).

One thing I wasn't expecting: there is no way to make them stand upright: they fall on their angled back. The center of gravity is far on the back of the box. Not a big deal: 95% of the time, it is the desired position anyway.

I'll be building more of them, unless we finally all get enough money to go with in-ears. Playing in a band is a f***ing expensive activity!

Been there done that. Easy fix though : just place them upside down, lying on their top side. They look kind of funny tthat way but hey, it works.

He'll be around until Christmas. If you're lucky there will be too many grandkids around then.
