Nice build, what are you driving it with? I also built an 18" wide TAT but used the JBL GT804 8" driver. I currently have mine hooked up to a Peavey IPR 1600 DSP amp. Okay maybe a little overkill! But I do have a limiter set at 28V and I have the HP filter set to 40Hz. I am actually going to try to use it to provide bass for a Christmas concert. Probably won't be enough, but hope to replace a double 18 that won't fit in the space. The double 18 was running pretty low during rehearsal and the TAT can be corner loaded. It will be fun to see how it works!

4 x OT12 - 2512 - Melded/D220Ti
1 x TAT - GTO804

As far as I am aware only the TAT can fit the ten.

+1 on some nice builds and review. Please compare your new sub with something you have used previously, preferably a name brand, off-the-shelf offering. Thanks!
hmm, you're completely right :(. It is braced with that smaller brace near the mouth but yeah that piece is missing. Oh well, I've closed it up already, I doubt (hope) it won't make much difference to its performance.

It would be pretty badass to proclaim that an 8 was making all that noise :P

I don't have any commercial subs to compare, but I have another DCS205-4 in a large ported box I built to test the driver. It has an 'extended bass shelf' alignment so it has usable extension down to 25-30hz or so.

I must say firstly for movies at very low volume I 'might' actually prefer the ported box over the autotuba, the extra extension is quite noticeable. BUT the sound quality is not the same.
The ported box sounds mushy and imprecise, it can detract form the experience sometimes. However the tubas sound so clear and effortless than you can forget about them entirely until they are called upon.

At higher volumes there is no competition, the autotuba's dominate, the increased sensitivity add impulsive response a very tactile thwomp to every note, while the ported box would be buzzing and chuffing hard trying to keep up. I do sometimes wish for more extension down low for movies sometimes :\ but then again this is meant to be a CAR SUB!

Speaking of, I did try both in my mates's car (the smaller one is actually for him). I hooked it directly up to one of the rear channels without a low pass or anything. And I must say WOW, it really does love the added cabin gain. Everything I love about the sound was more pronounced, we were smiling from ear to ear. I can't wait to get the amp installed :)
