On it. I'll probably drag a few people with me for this, may as well make a night of it!

Okay, so I've read this thread with amazement several times now, but I gotta say... it's hard to believe sound waves are popping balloons.

Show us a video!

I sincerely hope you are popping balloons with BFM cabs just so I can tell people about it. Good luck in your next show!

I don't fully understand why it happened but it did. There was 750 pretty full balloons so it may be hard to reproduce, I killed maybe 100-150 I wasnt counting, 25 or so popped one their own when being placed. Also the balloons were in a concave arch running the whole room so that may have focussed the waves.

Anyone else have this happen? I will try to reproduce this at a listening party a local builder and I are going to have.

I've had this happen at a couple of illegal events I've been to but the SPL's there were getting silly. I've not seen it on that sort of scale though!

It happened again at a halloween party...residential turn of the century place....no balloons made it to party time. We only had a couple though.

but no video :?

my t60s (2 19'' lab 12) can do similar damage. specifically with "make it nasty by tyga" I end up breaking the filament in light bulbs in a garage, and at this teen club I dj at (no in-house system) of about 38,000 sq feet (100x40 foot floor with brick walls and carpeting, about 12ft ceiling) I used them on average 3/4 power and every time the bass hit we kept feeling stuff fall on our heads. we just thought it was the bass shaking our hair. After the event ended we turned on the lights only to find bits of ceiling tile all over the floor! (this was at a 15 ft radius from the subs) halfway through the night we had an old woman walk over saying we were rattling her chinaware from 2 blocks away. after that we turned it down. the owner of the club stayed outside the club the whole night and greeted people coming in, and he said he could feel it in the ground! the normal DJ there had 4 Harbinger 18s at 800 watts each, and they don't come close to these for sure. They are loud in harmonic distortion, but they seem to roll off at 50hz and go silent at like 40z. to put it in perspective my 2 12'' go to 25 with 400 watts each!    cheers for the t60s!

(not intended to hijack)
Before Fitzmaurice, big bass could only be had with just a hook and a nightcrawler.

I've knocked a couple of picture frames off the wall and some stuff off the shelves in my closet with the dual TT. I've broken a couple of lightbulbs at small DJ gigs too. I just always ask that non-secured items on walls and shelves be removed from the room. :hyper:

We didn't pop any balloons, but somebody said the bass caused the toilet to flush on it's own while they were in the bathroom at this last house party I played with my 2 T48s. I'm not sure I believe it, but it was a good story. I grabbed this video while I was in there checking for myself (no mystery flushing that I found):

Sorry no video of balloons just posted a video of the party in the youtube section. I kept getting distracted from actually blowing ip a balloon and walk it in the room with a camera going.
