Grizzly.com questions

#1 Post by subharmonic »

So I am in the market for some stuff and am thinking of ordering from Grizzly....first off anyone have a coupon code of any sorts for them?

Secondly has anyone used their bits on BB? I am starting a TLAH build soon and looking at forstner bits, hole saws, and round over bits (1/4" or 1/8") from them. This is going to be a natural finish on them so bondo and such are not options with chip out etc.

I have un opened Freud forstner bits of the 2 sizes I need for the tweets and am considering returning one for a 1 1/4" Colt bit and have a Lennox hole saw unopened too. These will be rear mounted drivers/tweets.

Opinions, options, best buys for the money? Stick with routing the big holes (4 3/4")?

Total hole count 50ish on drivers and 75+ish on tweets

Freuds are better. But the grizzlys are good. I have both, the freuds hold their edge longer.

Definitely rout the big holes. Baltic is absolute hell on forstner bits. 1/4" plunge bit (straight or spiral) done in two passes will move along pretty quickly.

Actually moved on to top bearing frued bit and hopefully a decent template, I could circle jig the whole thing but that may take a while. Going with a Colt Forstner bit for the 1 1/4" front side hole (80% of the hole depth) and a frued for the 1 5/8 back on the tweets (just a small bit for the tweet to slide into). The more I am thinking about it the more I am not liking the hole saw idea.
