Re: Titan 48x8 build
mmmkay, finally some progress. Got some 7ply birch from Menards for 11 bucks per 48x24 sheet on sale so I bought all they had...which was only eight sheets but the pre cut sheets save a lot of cutting and a lot of cussing trying lug around full sheets of wood which sucks cause I always mess up at least one corner lugging them around!
Also I was looking at the specs regarding the 3015lf's and relized I dont have add reducers
Christmas in July.
Note the markings regarding the cuts for angle boxes (cutting above panel nine and 11) Should I cut the 45 degree angels to match the initial measurements of 4*4 and 9*9 or do I cut at the 1/2 mark made above the initial marking...or somewhere in-between? Hope that made since, see the pics below for clarifications. My assumption is that I cut to match the initial measurements and that the 45 degree slant for the top and bottom panels (1) will then follow the 45 degree slopes on the side panels.

Re: Titan 48x8 build
If I understand your question, you're asking about truncating the box past the corner reflectors, right? You need to cut from the outside of the 1/2" strip. Remember, your corner panels are cut to the same width as all the internal panels, so they need "book-ends" formed by the two side panels.
Alternatively, you can measure those corner pieces to be the full outside width of the box, cut on the inside of the 1/2" line, and slap them on as a cover piece. As long as the box is airtight, either way achieves the same goal.
If I'm answering the wrong question, pretend I just said: "Hey, nice job so far!

Re: Titan 48x8 build
cool, so i cut the line that measures 1/2 from the original line..reflecting on the question i guess that does make the most since..Tom Smit wrote:The yellow is the corner panel, either 9 or 11.

thanks for all of your feedback guys...three traced out with five to go!!

Slowly but surly the herd grows in size! All eight are done but just wouldn't fit in the picture. Hopefully now that the bands done for the season and some of my other projects are wrapped up I can progress a little faster.

Re: Titan 48x8 build
Quick question about the anchors: Since I will be using the 3015lfs in this build I will only need one anchor per box. However, I am building eight boxes and it seems like a waste of nice BB just to make eight anchors for 15" subs. So, does it really matter what the anchors are made of so long as I stick with 1/2" material?
Addendum: same question regarding the 3/5 and 4/6 bracing. Does it matter what material it as so long as I follow this specified thickness.
Thanks!

What's an anchor?

The driver anchor, required to support the driver mounted onto the baffle (panel two).Gregory East wrote:What's an anchor?

Re: Titan 48x8 build
For the anchor, 5 ply minimum (spruce, pine, fir).
For the braces, even 1/4" thick (3 ply) will do. But that can be tricky. Wood that is 5 ply typically is the recommended, for ease of install.
Multiple, opposing plies are the secret to strength and rigidty.

Re: Titan 48x8 build
Started some actual construction today.
Two issues but nothing major:
The first: even though I read the plans probably 30 times I still forgot to drill holes through the two sides so that I will have a guide on the opposite side of each side piece to follow when screwing the panels in. Oh well, Ill do that today with the tops already affixed!
The second: (see pic below) Yours truley bought precut 24"x24" panels ( so Im sure you know where this is going) thus, one end-to-end measurment of the panels is 23 7/8", which is tolerable. However, the other end-to-end measurement is 23 5/8. Soooo Now I have to go back and take an 1/8th" of each precut 24x48" panel that I have.
Neither it a real big deal I guess, so I would say " so far, so good"

Re: Titan 48x8 build
Tops are on and now im going back and putting my guide lines on the opposite sides for fasteners. Little bass-akwards but it worked all the same!
Hope to have the baffles done next week. Cutting and installing everything, times eight, takes for ever, oh well it will be worth it in the end!

4'x2' is some handy stuff for 24" wide T48 I bet. You guys with BB on tap have no idea how lucky you are.
