EV Xsub
EV Xsub
So I was at the big summer music fest in Houston this past weekend. Snoop Dog plus Willie Nelson plus Major Lazer made the price of admission quite worth it. They had quite a big setup for the main stage. 11 of these EV 218 subs on each side of the stage (you can sort of see them in the picture):

Sounded pretty good. Huge bass, but with 22 of these monsters, I would think there should be. Anyone have any experience with these, or thoughts about them? My biggest thought is the 200 lbs. per cab. What would your preferred BF rig for this if you had a blank check to do it?
I attached a picture I got when the temperature peaked at 99F. It was a scorcher.

Re: EV Xsub
The EVX is a typical 2x18 reflex box, so it will work about the same as those compared to in the SPL chart section. Driver xmax is only 6.4mm, so it's nothing special where output is concerned.

Re: EV Xsub
I'm sure the EVX's are good subs. But the best that I have heard from EV are the Phoenix series (PX2181). Went to a concert with 4 of these per side for about 1000 people and it was the best I've heard. They use a scoop type design which works very effectively for bass that breathes for you.

How did the Jeep Power Amps sound?
Also, Major Lazer... so bad it's good - they still doing the daggering thing with Skerrit Bwoy?

Exactly. Probably not for the purists, but I guess it doesn't take much when there are 20,000+ drunks looking to have a good time. He played with Diplo. It's all kind of a blur, though. Still a lot of fun.bitSmasher wrote: Also, Major Lazer... so bad it's good
I've seen Willie a few times, and this was definitely the best I've seen him. He actually sang, rather than just mumbling for an hour. Snoop got on, dropped some tracks, encouraged everyone to light up, dropped some more tracks, and got off.
The festival didn't have the biggest acts playing, but mostly everyone put on a good show. It's our little mini ACL.

Re: EV Xsub
Considering Diplo is one half of Major Lazer I'd expect so! The other half being UK based producer Switch. Skerrit Bwoy and the dancers exist to just go nuts on stage and work the crowd up. Seems to do the job.ncgrove wrote:Exactly. Probably not for the purists, but I guess it doesn't take much when there are 20,000+ drunks looking to have a good time. He played with Diplo.
