4- Dr250's

I finally finished my last pair of 250's, and played all four today. All that I can say is amazing. What four sound like compared to 2 is undescribeable. The sound is effortless at insane levels and people that were passing by were grabbing there chest and smiling with an astonished look on their face. I brought 4 T-48's, but i didn't unload 2 of them because of the weather. I know there are some sceptics out there, but with four 250's and 2 T-48's, the port-o-let walls were physically rattling at 150ft. Guys, I am not pulling your leg, I cant say enough about using four 250's, Even at small events, the sound is so large, I will never use 2 again.

I've never heard 4, but I've stacked my 2 on top of one another when I was testing them. the difference in 2 separated and 2 stacked is amazing in and of itself. I'm guessing 4 of them is awesome!

It's simply crazy the way these speakers combine. It's not that they are louder, they are cleaner, sharper, and have much more impact. I dont know if you have ever heard Clarence frogman Carters " aint got no home" but when he sings in his frogman voice, I was breathless. The definition is truly wonderful.

I know it's line array physics in action, but the difference is astounding.

Even for the small gigs I always take 4. You can always turn it down.

Even as often as folks have raved about the remarkable sound change one gets from going from one to two 250s per side I'm not surprised when a post raves about the improvement- FOLKS, IT MUST BE HEARD TO BE BELIEVED!

Does the drastic improvement happen when using the OT12s in multiples too? I really want to build a gaggle of them coz i cant face building 3 more dr250s at the moment!

Not as drastic, since doubling cabs lowers the line array function by an octave, while less than a doubling doesn't do as much. But it does keep getting better.

Yes, but only if you build them with full length tweeter arays, so be sure that's how you build them for vertical arraying.

Precisely what a line array does (it's called the nearfield condition)depends not only on the array height but also how far away from it you're standing, so the calcs are pretty complicated. But what it does drops by an octave with each doubling of the array height, and how far out the effect extends doubles with each doubling of the array height. There is no practical limit to how high making the array is of benefit, but with subs it is impractical to try. At 100 Hz the line has to be at least 35 feet high to work as a line source at all.
