Just sayin' hey. New to the PA world, but I think I'm enjoying it more than the auto-audio world, by far! Found the site while perusing Parts-Express's TechTalk forums looking for an interesting build to do. I must say, I think I've come to the right place!
I'm one of those fortunate people... I have a cabinet shop literally in my back yard. So I figure it may as well be used to full potential to upgrade my speakers! Guess I should define some goals and go from there...

Stick around and read up on topics, you'll find that a lot of the info you were fed in the auto-sound industry is bullshit, so be prepared to be challenged.. As soon as possible swing by the "Have a question? Look here first" subforum and read all the stickies in the other subforums..

Holy crap there's a ton of info here! Some GREAT reading. Being in the IT world has taught me one thing: Typically when someone throws out all kinds of buzzwords and terminology quickly to support their claim... They don't know squat. Just in a few hours of reading here, that doesn't seem to be the case. The buzzwords and terminology are USED here, rather than just thrown out there as support of posters' "knowledge" on the topic. Things are actually explained, rather than breezed over with a "you don't know that? Idiot" attitude (which I've come to learn is a defense mechanism when the basher doesn't know what they're talking about either). Kudos!
And yes, I'm very much of the DIY type... I hate buying things when I can make them! The ol' cabinet shop has been setting idle for far too long. I need to get measurements on the Tahoe to see what goodies I can fit in there. (for transport)

Welcome. Just throw out your goals and you will definitely get a lot of (good) suggestions. I am a relatively newb here, no pa or DJ experience, but have built some seriously ROCKIN' speakers from the plans and help from the peeps here.
One suggestion: buy the whole CD of plans. Inevitably, you will build your first cab then want to build another. And another. Then another.

Dude's gonna buy some plans, knock out some speakers and come back in a month or so asking about trailers for more speakers. 
I thought I knew stuff about audio, turns out I didn't. Thanks to Bill and a fair few other highly knowledgeable people on this site things are far clearer and that's not just talking about the quality of the speakers either.

Slimish T39 might go in stacked two high and two deep, with enough left over for DR200. Amps etc on front seat.

I hope I'm not researching trailers soon... Between dad and I, we have 8 I believe. Granted, only one of them is enclosed (12'). I need to be getting rid of a few!
I knew what the basics were for limiters coming to the site, but never thought I would have a need for one. After reading a bit here, some of the fuzzy areas were cleared up on the topic. Also learned a fair amount about the proper methods on setting levels here just from yesterday's reading.
I actually came to the conclusion that I was going to need the CD on my own. And very quickly! Only thing that's holding me back from pulling the trigger on all kinds of new toys is the upcoming move... I don't really want to be dragging a truckload of equipment cross-country. I should probably prioritize and bring a few clothing items, especially since Colorado has a bit rougher winters than we do here. Plans are to sell the current speakers before the move, but keep the rack. (I'd part with most items in the rack as well) So if there's anyone in the Denver area who wants a roommate and has a cabinet shop, look no further.
