Or use spray paint! Still, do it before the side is put on
Before Fitzmaurice, big bass could only be had with just a hook and a nightcrawler.

Pre-painting is easier, but do keep the parts of the sides where you will glue free of paint (the panels that are in place, as well as the last side panel that you will glue on). If the surfaces that will be glued are painted, then the glue will not adhere very well anymore. That would seriously reduce the cabs strength.
I remember a thread long ago where we made jokes of Harley trying to paint all the way inside the mouth of a T48. With him being a rather short bloke, it looked like he was being eaten by his Titan, with only his shoes sticking out. The Titan was fitted with teeth and eyes, for the occasion. Have searched, but couldn't find the pic anymore. It was a good laugh.
On a more serious note, would you mind to elaborate on how you did the curved braces? It looks "the dog's danglies", "the bee's knees" as some of the UK or kiwi forum members would say. Is it just a part of a circle with a large radius?

I guess I better run to the store and grab some spray paint.

Thanks! We knew they'd be wide, but they definitely look bigger in person than we imagined they'd be. Kind of intimidatingGrant Bunter wrote:Fantastic builds!

We rolled the first coat of Duratex on both T39s last night. One more coat tonight and they should be (finally) ready to test out.

All your builds look silly clean. I'm impressed. Also so will you be once you set those up.

Sorry, not sure how I missed your question on the end of this post. There's probably an easier method, but we curved a scrap piece of plywood and I used a router flush trim bit to cut off the excess outside of the curved scrap. I only used the curved piece on the first one (the jig), then duplicated the other pieces using the flush trim bit, using the jig as the template. I'm making this sound more confusing than it really is.AntonZ wrote: ...

A picture is worth a thousand words:

Thanks! I just make sure to take the pictures at angles that don't show the flaws.88h88 wrote:All your builds look silly clean. I'm impressed. Also so will you be once you set those up.

All looks amazing!
I'd be careful about air leaks on the front speakons.

I was wondering about that. Any suggestions?Chris_Allen wrote:All looks amazing!

I figured I might coat any questionable areas with silicone before I install the jack plate. The jackplate itself has a foam gasket that I think will seal okay if it's tight enough.

Wow...
that is a gorgeous box. Superb man. I've got to do some sanding and get some duratex on my boxes.
Seems the gasket should handle any leaks.

Thanks Donny, your T30s are looking good too! Filling screw holes and sanding is the part I dread the most.doncolga wrote:Wow...that is a gorgeous box. Superb man. I've got to do some sanding and get some duratex on my boxes.

Ditto that. I always think I'm "done" once the wood work is over.shawn_g wrote:Thanks Donny, your T30s are looking good too! Hey the your build looks fantastic, congratulations on the work. On the speaker grills I notice that they are flat. How did you secure them to the cabinets. Once again great work.
Re: OmniTop 12 (x4) and Titan 39 (x2) build
Thanks for the kind words. There are pictures on page 2 that show the grill mounts. It's just 1/2" plywood cut at the same angle as the horn, held in place with PL. You'll notice there are small mounts at the top and bottom of the piezo array that serve the same purpose.mikeratliff wrote:Hey the your build looks fantastic, congratulations on the work.
