We finally got the first OTop done enough to give it a listen. It still needs the foam cut out around the handles and finish work (filled screw holes, duratex, etc...)

Overall, it sounds great. The mids/high-mids really seem to cut through and we were really impressed with the dispersion of the piezo array. My concrete basement isn't exactly the best testing ground, so we're anxious to hear it in a better room or outside.

After screwing around with our semi-finished OTop for way too long, we figured we better get some work done. We're building the next three at the same time to hopefully speed up the overall process.

Last night, we installed the throat reflectors, woofer spacer, phase plug extensions, and sides on the remaining three OTops.

The "assembly line" method seems to be working much better for us as far as getting the job done faster. We're hoping to have them finished, minus the front metal grill (haven't ordered those yet) and duratex, sometime this weekend. :fingers:

i must say you and your dad have natural woodworking talent. i don't even see pl smeared anywhere. i hope you do know the otops will overpower the titans, so if you have the money and time whip up 2 more cabs while you have the sawdust in the air. you don't have to load the cabs, just build the boxes and wait till funds allow. just my .02, wish i would have built a second cab. i look forward to the build!
Before Fitzmaurice, big bass could only be had with just a hook and a nightcrawler.

Thanks for the compliments! We're going to start with the two T39s based on Bill's recommendations to see how it goes, but we're keeping our options open that we may need to build two more.

Here's the progress from last night. We got the back panel braces installed (long process!) and routed some of the edges.

The middle one in the stack is OTop #1 that we already "finished".

We temporarily placed the cab corners on there to see what they'll look like.

The fourth one is off to the side and is at the same state as the other three, it just didn't make the photo shoot.

The OmniTops are finally ready for Duratex, which will get done tonight. I ordered some metal grills from ReliableHardware.com on Sunday, so I'm anxious to see what those will look like on there.

The duratex went on last night. We still have one more coat to do.

Bruce, you weren't kidding about this stuff going a long way. I'd guess we'll have about a gallon and a half left after we're done.

Looks great!

You paint coverage looks very even and nice.. Are you spraying or rolling the duratex on?

Thanks. We're using the roller grade variety. I'm wishing we would have went the spray route though, mainly for the issue of getting the corners and tight spots covered. I'd imagine the Titans will be pretty easy by comparison.

very nice - look real good with the 'tex on!

I've found the spray grade works better than the roller grade when rolling IMHO.
