First Jack 12

Not quite done. I need to add tilt back leg and add a finish.

This thing is incredible. One of the easiest builds that I have done. The cabinet is very light for it's size though a bit bigger than I imagined.

After checking for leaks I played a test track at a moderate volume and....    I thought it was my T39. Then I plugged in the bass and did some toying around and found that even not knowing how to play bass, the cabinet is very articulate. For those looking for copious amounts of volume build 2 and hold on to your socks.

I was a bit on the fence about building 2 Jacks to use as tops. After building one for bass I'm sold.

You still have time: put tweeters in it! Add an on/off switch, and you're golden.

Nice work on the cab, BTW!

I wanted to update this review as I had time to put it thru it's paces. I am still very impressed by the cabinet. I have used it as a backline bass cab for a few bands and the players liked what they heard. As the sound guy I liked what I heard as well. Very smooth sounding and great clarity. I did not have to fight the typical mud of a lot of rigs I usually hear.

What I would not recommend is the tilt legs for this cabinet if using it as a bass rig. I used 1/2" araurco for the cab and the stand is just at 5/8" thick. It may work better if you are using 3/4 BB, but the weight factor negates it for me. IMO it is more trouble installing than result of the small rise. I would suggest this stand for an XF guitar cab.
If I was a bass player I would have 3 of these. One cab for practice and small gigs, 2 cab to go swimming in bass, and 3 cabs for unadulterated overzealous amounts of volume.

I am planning on building 2 more J12's with tophats for PA duty. I run enough accoustic gigs to justify the build.

What a great cabinet. Light, loud and versatile.
