OmniTop12's/Titan 39

First thanks for the forum help. I've got my OmniTop12's in working order (Delta 12 Pro, Down tilt melded array) They need to be stained and sprayed.
For now I just have pictures, will add commentary down the road. I still have to do stage monitors and a 30" Titan 39. And I work sslllooowww

Well I finally got the Omni Top 12's done, and in place. Got the final Cert of Occupancy on Friday, Sunday they held services. We're using the bass player's Titan 39 for now. All in all, a pretty successful build. (So far)

The Omni12s (melded, down tilted arrays) did a phenomenal job of covering the room. Few dead spots. Still dialing in the final equalization, but with a live band they positively rock. We had one retired sound engineer who helped us dial in a bit, but his comments were nothing short of "blown away"

Looks good! I noticed your first post mentions building a 30" T39, make sure you get the most recent plans, which now state a max 28" width and are front-loaded.

Omnis are well deserving of praise, (you can take that as a double meaning seeing as they're in church ) they've very impressive sounding speakers. Is that just coloured speaker cloth on the front of those then?

Shawn, thanks for the heads up on new plans. Down to 24" wide in any event, but these might save me some beautification time. 100 degrees now, so I'm waiting for our next cool spell to start wacking wood.

The grill cloth is a perforated synthetic mesh made for soccer/football jerseys stretched over an mdf frame. Here's a better shot. Tough stuff.

I noticed in your build pics that you only used a few screws on the arrays. They might rattle; I use a screw at every joint. Also, the cabs might benefit from some downward tilt, as the vertical dispersion of the arrays is pretty tight.

In final assembly, I screwed every hole in the tweeter array.

I've talked with the "sound master" and made the same observation on down tilting the cabinets a bit. During sound checks the tweeters seemed dialed in about the 4th row (out of 10 rows). Overall, the coverage was amazingly consistent. The room is almost completely asymmetric, with a glass back wall. I told him to play with tilt a bit, then screw through the brackets into the cabinets to tie things together. We're still learning how to dial in the DriveRack equalizers, so I think we'll get it right in 2-3 performances. It's already light years better than what they had.

Other than the hernias for the guys who put those 50 lb monsters up there, I think the OmniTop12 was the right choice for this venue. The down tilted, melded arrays did a better job than I expected. The only dead spot was the far left rear corner -- most of that got filled by the band monitors.

Perhaps a 1x1 or 2x2 screwed in at the back would provide the needed tilt. Screw it onto the bottom rear of the cab, screw from under the bracket into the "riser".

Thanks, I'm gonna have to get creative on finishing the sub. Gonna try to make it fit with the altar and clear coat Auraco plywood. Plan is to go dark on all the hole filler, add a few random dings here and there, stain seal/wipe on a dark glaze coat/then spray. Give it a distressed/antique look. Probably make a second top with 6"-8" overhang on the mouth side so they can't push it against the wall. Preschoolers will have access to the area too. All I need now is energy.
