Did you grab one of these in the end? My cheap irons are no longer cutting it so I'm looking at picking up a nice station in the hope it'll be far more consistent. My soldering is fine but sometimes it takes an age for the iron to heat up the wire which is obviously no good if there are components at either end of it.

It's in my genetics to be frugal; I've had soldering irons for decades. Because of the high temps involved; metal surfaces and tips corrode quickly, and heating elements break. Attention to these areas makes a difference in performance.
