PE gasket tape substitute

#1 Post by Radian »

Was over at ACE hardware today and noticed this material looks suspiciously similar to my roll of speaker gasket tape from PE.

Your link shows a 3/8 inch thick weatherstrip type material. Speaker gasket tape is only about 1/16 inch thick.

Yeah, it's kind of a cluttered site, but there's a drop down menu that shows they stock 1/8 x 3/8; Which is what I actually saw at the store, for about half that price IIRC.

It felt just like the tape that I got from PE a while back. Same black closed-cell foam with a squishy-gooey feel to it.

yep, I bought some of the PE speaker gaskets and it immediately reminded me of sponge tape used for insulating or sealing stuff off around the house. like bill noted, watch the thickness!
