behringer ep2000 help!
behringer ep2000 help!
I just bought a ep2000 to power a single subwoofer for now but cannot get it to work.
XLR and 1/4" inputs.
Decided to use the 1/4" since adapters are easy to find at the local electronics store.
I have a denon AVR with a subwoofer cable, single end at receiver, red/white rca at other end so I first purchased this...
http://www.thesource.ca/estore/product. ... ct=4202477
That did not work. The signal led would not light up.
I then took some rg6, crimped on some male ideal rca/phono connectors on each end and purchased this...
http://www.thesource.ca/estore/product. ... ct=2740884
Still no luck.
I have tried using both channels 1 and 2, i've tried mono bridge mode and double and triple checked all my dip switches and connections.
Am I missing something silly? Doing something wrong? Is there a way to change which inputs you're using?
I tested the xlr inputs using the output from my dac and they work but i'd really like to get the 1/4" inputs working rather then waiting a week or two and buying rca->xlr cables.

Well I just played around with it some more, finally got it working but I need to set the volume on my a/v receiver very high and then max the gain knob on the ep2000. With everything turned up super high (almost uncomfortable listening level on the mains) and gain know turned all the way up i'm only getting 2 volts.

Re: behringer ep2000 help!
Try coming out a RCA line-out of a DVD player, see if you get signal. If you do, then the problem is in the reciever. If you don't, the problem is either the cables or the amp.
Since you only have one sub out, you will only use one side of the amp (bridging is pointless unless you want to blow your speakers). Make sure you're using channel 1 in and channel 1 out, for instance.

99% of the time, things that aren't already being done aren't being done because they don't work. The other 1% is split evenly between fools and geniuses.
Re: behringer ep2000 help!
I just grabbed an ipod, a male-male 3.5mm stereo jumper type cable and plugged the other end into a female 3.5mm to male 1/4" stereo.
Different source, same problem
Had to max the volume on the ipod and max the gain knob to get a signal.
Edit - I think the problem is the behringer. For the first few days I was using my buddies OLD nht amp and it had rca inputs on it. I had my subwoofer cable straight from my AVR into the amp and my sub screamed, so I don't think it is an issue with the signal coming out of my denon.

Re: behringer ep2000 help!
There's possibility your rca to trs is not playing ball with a balanced input to the amp.

Re: behringer ep2000 help!
true but the ipod was straight 3.5mm stereo cable to 1/4" stereo adapter and still no dice. That completely eliminates my denon and the rca cable.

Re: behringer ep2000 help!
Yeah, and the amp inputs will likely be balanced mono, not stereo unbalanced. I'm thinking that might sum to the difference rather than the sum.

Re: behringer ep2000 help!
The problem might be that the 1/4" input is TRS, not R-L-GROUND. If you use only a Red, or only a White if you want, RCA and connect that to a 1/4" TS, you'll be OK.
P.S. -think mono on the 1/4", not stereo.

Re: behringer ep2000 help!
Like I mentioned above I have tried inputting from my subwoofer preout using both a 1/4" TRS adapter and a rca -> 1/4" TS.

Re: behringer ep2000 help!
How many bands are on your TRS plug? 2 or 1
2 is stereo/balanced in this exercise
1 is mono.
Another thing is you could drag the amp to a pro shop and have them just plug it into something to so if they get lights.
What are your dip switches set to for the record?

2x T39, 1x T60, 1x THTLP, 1x AT(not built by me) 6x DR250
I need more bass
But this gal's built like a burlap bag full of bobcats

Like I have already mentioned i've tried with both style of adapters, one 'stereo' and one 'mono'.
My switches have been adjusted and changed many times, I know them by memory now.
ch1 - 1.clip on
2. 30hz
3. low frequency limiter off
4/5. stereo mode
6/7. mono bridge off
8/9/10 are the ch2. settings which are the same as the first three which I don't need anyways since I only need 1 channel.
i'm thinking about borrowing a bass guitar from somebody and just plugging it in to the amp and seeing if that works.

I'm not sure you get the distinction between consumer stereo and pro balanced connections. We're not yanking your chain.
What's required is a single rca connected to a simple 1/4" plug. You could get away with the stereo rca to trs converter using only one of the receiver outs, swap to the other one if it doesn't come alive. If that doesn't work try the bass, but you'll need a preamp, an active bass isn't enough.

I'm pretty sure I have already mentioned it like 2 or 3 times but I have already tried that, unless I am completely misunderstanding. I have tried using a TRS adapter and a TS.Gregory East wrote:This.Tom Smit wrote:The problem might be that the 1/4" input is TRS, not R-L-GROUND. Currently I have a single rca cable connected to a 1/4" TS (no ring) adapter.
Denon -> sw pre out -> one rca cable (only one connector on each end) -> phono to 1/4" TS adapter -> behringer 1/4" TRS input.
I have also tried
Denon -> sw per out -> subwoofer cable (one conenctor at denon, red/white other end) -> red/white rca Y cable to 1/4" TRS adapter -> amp
Prior to the behnringer I had a old NHT amp with red/white rca/phono inputs so I just used the sub cable from the denon directly into the NHT and it worked gloriously. The only difference now is a different amp and trying to adapt to a 1/4" TR/TRS input.
Hopefully i'm just not understanding.

Re: behringer ep2000 help!
How are you connecting the amp and sub?

Re: behringer ep2000 help!
I just have speaker wire running to the sub from the channel 1 output binding posts on the amp.
