It was a rough day. Lol. Actually the room modes kickin our asses was a bit humbling, never having experienced issues that bad.

Room modes sound like real pain in the proverbial :wall: I've not yet experienced them, but the number of threads I've read outlining them, seem endless.
It must have been somewhat demoralizing, witnessing the BFM Horn not perform the way we are all accustomed to. Good on you guys for taking the initiative and putting in the effort, to carry out such a comprehensive A B compario

Thanks so much for the reviews. I have been up in the air about trying out the Tuba 60 but all the stuff I had read suggested it wasn't needed. I love the way my auto tubas sound over my T39 so I can only imagine how the T60 would sound.

I just got a AT from JonBarnhardt that day, man what a sweet sound. The T60 has more guts to it. Maybe not quite as clean as the AT above the 40hz mark but by all means still very clean sounding. IMHO of course.

Jon Barnhardt wrote: @netwerks - It's more an industrial shop. 30'W x 60'L x 16'H It has corrugated tin (like on pole barn sides and roofs) going about 7-8' on the sides and 12" of batting (insulation) on the walls and ceiling (and behind the tin)
I routinely do a New Years party in a barn very similar to that but with a higher ceiling and I have the same results with reduced output. The corrugated walls are too flimsy to really get any boundary loading off of and I find myself placing the subs in the middle of the floor. (...more than 8 feet from any wall) It's seems to work best that way. It's frustrating because I've heard my T30's at outdoor events sound way louder than in the barn.

Despite the reduced bass output in the barn, everyone within a mile always comments on how they can hear the party...
Built so far:
AutoTuba. TAT, T18, T30, T39, SLA, SLA Pro, DR200, Omni 12TB, Omni 12 Sub, Omni 10.5,

We did go outside for a bit but it was one of the first cold days of the year and a the wind was biting too hard to stay out there for long. Directly outside the door it was about the same volume. That was about as far as we went.
