Moose Lodge Party this past Friday

#1 Post by rec »

I ran all (4) t30(4012HO loaded) subs Friday night at a local Moose lodge. It was a fund raiser for a school. Holy Bass notes batman!!!! I also ran a set of OT12's. The bass filled the room and was thunderous! I was seriously impressed. I ran two per side on a QSC 1850HD. The party only ended up with maybe 60 people there but a good time was had by all. I will post some pics tomorrow. This was the first time I had used all 4 and yes they were V plated and corner loaded. Yes....I am a happy camper: :hyper:

Side note: they owners of the establishment said the music sounded great and asked for a business card. Hopefully we will
be able to do future business together. You never know I might even venture out into the live sound (band) territory. Once again thanks to all those here that help people like me have a terrific sounding rig....you too Bill :)

So I don't get flamed on how I am dressed, it was a 70's theme party. Hence the shiny shirt and gold chain....lol

Here are the pics

 Awesome man. That's about the same power I run, but I'm just using one side of my amp right now. I'm hoping to start my second pair of T30's soon. Probably 24's also.

Donny,
As happy as I am with the performance of these bad boys dang they are heavy with the 4012HO driver. I am 48 yrs old and they are about all I can handle by myself. I have one of the rock n roll carts so I just rock the sub back onto my thigh to get it up on the cart. I am currently liquidated some odds and ends to fund a new QSC GX7 amp. I am running a GX5 for my tops.
The subs are built with Arco so they are about as light as they can get short of changing drivers. Sometimes I wish I had built a set of slims like you did.

Actually it crossed my mind last evening unloading my 18's that I'm not sure I could really handle anything much bigger than the 18's comfortably. I can hold the close side with my left hand and still reach all the way around to the opposite front with my right. Also, 18's make good use of 5X5 BB. I get three rows worth of panels per sheet. More to think about. I'm planning on the Lab 12 too, so yes, that will be heavier.

But still man...those look beautiful. i would have loved to have heard it.

Not the greatest turn out, they had about a 100 last year. I think there was some PTO politics going on....who knows.
At least I was not in charge of getting people to show up.

Donny, The pay off is in the sound. Sort of makes it worth it when you fire those bad boys up. Maybe you could build
three sets of 18" wide cabs and just stack em up as needed. I have a 6x10 trailer and my initial intent was to stack them
in the trailer and strap the top set to the wall while in transit. I dont think I can get the second set lifted that high though. At least not without hurting my back. So it looks like they will be traveling on the floor. I meant to check my voltages to see what I had the subs running at, oh well there is always next time.

Now that I think about it, seems like I chose 18" because of the way it cut out on 5x5 BB....it just turned out that I liked the size too. Along that logic, the next size up would probably 26-28" to basically split a 5x5 and be sure I can get through doors. I'll have to do a mock up.

How far was your corner load from the mains?

That's similar to my trailer. It will take some doing to figure out the best way to pack with twice the subs, and possibly bigger ones. I'm going to be getting some load ramps soon as well, and some Duratex...woohoo!

The subs were about 10ft to the left of the stage. I too need to get some more duratex. The second set of subs are just painted black for the time being. I have a couple of more pics on my iphone of the subs in my trailer that I will post tomorrow.

These were my first two, so that was to give a little play if I needed to.
