CHEAP SPKR CABLE: SPEAKON TO SPEAKON
CHEAP SPKR CABLE: SPEAKON TO SPEAKON
On a budget??? Best deal on the net for 12G speaker cable. I have bought this stuff myself and it isn't fancy but it works and its 100ft for $50 bucks shipped!

I won't use anything but genuine Neutrik connectors. You also should not use longer than 50 foot cables.

Re: CHEAP SPKR CABLE: SPEAKON TO SPEAKON
I was thinking of cutting into 25' sections and putting my own ends on it. Even for bulk cable it's not a bad price if the jacket quality is anything at all...

At this price, I cut off the L-Cheapo speakon heads and add my own. I also cut the cable down to size, it's really just for the cable. From one roll I made 2-40ft and a bunch of 3'-4' Jumpers. Like I said the jacket isn't fancy but it's 12g.

Re: CHEAP SPKR CABLE: SPEAKON TO SPEAKON
I got these and some handmade ones off eBay that use RedCo wire and Neutriks.
As far as the wire on the Seismics go, the copper is 12g, the jackets are fine, the connectors work. Only downside is that I had to lay them out in the sun for a bit. I'll replace the the connectors on them someday.

Just to save starting a new thread, i just wondered was this cable any good from thomann? i was going to look at getting the van damme cable but this is so much cheaper and i cant see that the cheaper cable is that much worse!

Copper is copper, no matter who sells it. The only thing I'd shy away from is a PVC outer jacket, as it's not very flexible and will kink. Stick with neoprene.philbill wrote:Just to save starting a new thread, i just wondered was this cable any good from thomann? i was going to look at getting the van damme cable but this is so much cheaper and i cant see that the cheaper cable is that much worse!

I just purchased 100 ft 12 gauge cable along with some speakons...I'm not sure if they're genuine Neutrik or not...anything I should watch out for?
Thanks!

It should say Neutrik on the connector. If not, take it back. The point of building your own cables is to make sure they are bullet-proof. Don't use crappy components or they'll be only as good as the junk you can buy off the rack.doncolga wrote:I just purchased 100 ft 12 gauge cable along with some speakons...I'm not sure if they're genuine Neutrik or not...anything I should watch out for?

Or knock off the connectors, order and install Nuetriks instead.Bruce Weldy wrote:It should say Neutrik on the connector. If not, take it back. Yes, copper may be copper but the trick is to purchase multi-strand fine wire cables, this type will last forever and are practically kink proof, providing years of cable wraping heaven.
Re: CHEAP SPKR CABLE: SPEAKON TO SPEAKON
So is that cable ok? i know its hard to tell as they dont tell you much!
Re: CHEAP SPKR CABLE: SPEAKON TO SPEAKON
My 100' 12 AWG came in today with attached speakons...wow. I'll be picking up Neutriks tomorrow. Where would I be without you all? You are truly the wind beneath my wings!

Re: CHEAP SPKR CABLE: SPEAKON TO SPEAKON
Is that how they were hooked up when you received the cables?

Re: CHEAP SPKR CABLE: SPEAKON TO SPEAKON
Yes...I opened up the speakons and that's what was there. The other end was a little better. I've never made one of these myself, but I was pretty sure this was off the mark.Tom Smit wrote:Is that how they were hooked up when you received the cables?
Again, I did get these for the cable...which I'll probably make a 50' and two 25' out of this. The speakon connector was the same price as the 1/4, which I would have taken off, so I figured I'd take a chance to see how the speakons would do. Clearly not good, so I'll add some real Neutriks tomorrow. Speaking of making them, should I tin the ends before putting them in the Neutriks?
Thanks!
