Just found this, http://www.abeltronics.co.uk/amptesting.php, I thought it was interesting and thought that others might too.

Good find. I have done a little reading on amp technology and have trouble grasping all the tech jargan but that site really helps explain the magic.

I am starting to notice some strange anomalies with my tops when pushing the volume and now I'm starting to see why. Fortunately knowing the problem helps finding a solution.

Have you noticed something strange with the HF output on the Xti tests? The 1000 is normal, but the HF output on the 4000 is down 50% compared to the 1000. I think they had a broken amp on their hands.

I have run my tops on the xti2000 and xti4000. The 2000 has some high frequency weirdness from 1k and up when I push hard. It gets really hot between 1k-3k but the clarity seems to disappear. Not so much as a distortion but a phase issue. Lucky for me that I have a phase reverse switch on every channel. But that is only a band aid for the problem.

The QSC line up is looking interesting.

The 4000 didn't get pushed hard enough for me to notice the same issue but way overkill.

That's the kinda homebrew stuff that gets thrown together for Caribbean street parties and such, you can see an awful lot of 'made in the shed' monstrosities at those things, it's awesome.

Yes, aye!

Scoop bins made out of wardrobes and heavy iron! That was 1970s/early 80s DIY PA.

Just what I was used to before I found BFD! Heavy distortion.

Check these (scroll down to see blue-colored Annihilator amps):

http://www.jtsstudio.co.uk/pages/amps.htm

Only £1500-3000 each!

Even those guys set up all wrong splitting subs and lining up a wall of tops side by side  :wall:

Thanks and praise to Bill and everyone for opening my eyes.

JAH! Rastafari!!

Anyone playing roots reggae and dub through Bill's designs? I am really looking foward to hearing the diff btwn directs plus mid and high tops compared to DRs and tubas. (I know R&D doesn't need the extension but I have a lot of techno vinyl which does.)
