In my testing it gives more before failing than about anything else I tried, with greater strength before failure. I think that's an advantage in a pro cab that's going to be flung about. A brittle strong bond just shatters, PL fails slowly.

+1. Brittle joints fail far more easily than elastic joints.Tom Smit wrote:soooo... Premium will act like a spring/absorber during a fall? And then release that energy...and the cab returns to shape (all incrementally though). Hhmmm, makes sense to me.

Re: Priming the plywood
I just bought some PL advanced to try it. I set panel 2 on my THTLP with it already. Is there any test you guys can think of for me to see if it is better or worse?
Way easier to cleanup then PL Premium

Re: Priming the plywood
Okay I just put some PL Premium and Advanced on the ends of some scrap 2 x 4 and other various scraps. I will be out of town when it cures but will get back to you guys this weekend. I am figuring a drop test and a bend test. All boards are butted together. Tried to match all the variables I could but since they Premy is like thick syrup and Advanced is like toothpaste it was hard to make all the amounts the same.
I do like though that the Advanced directions say you may want to wear gloves but the Premium says you must wear gloves.
Also went to scrap the excess advanced off my dadoes sections. This stuff hard after 3 hours. I mean hard.
Let the games begin.

Re: Priming the plywood
it would be interesting if you used the same sized (10mmx6mm) joints that I used all those years ago, so a more direct comparison could be made.

Re: Priming the plywood
Anyone tried the liquid nail poly glue yet? I picked a tube to try - $1 cheaper than PL. Personally I haven't experienced any expansion of the PL - just squeeze out. Don't you have to wet the material a bit to actually get expansion/fizzing?

I'll bet you have and haven't noticed it. The squeeze out will expand to about 1/3 to 1/2 bigger than when it was wet. If you're not looking for it, you probably didn't notice it.
If it's too loud, you're even older than me! Like me.

Yuck. I think its broke, it only does metric.
I still have the butt joined 2x4s. The other pieces didn't hold at all. Still trying to figure out a good way to break these.
