Hey,
For myself, I've always run my sound from the stage but I'm curious about having something out front. I understand getting audio from the stage to a board out front, but where do the amps go? Should they be with the mixer or close to the speakers?
Thanks!
Donny

Re: Audio Snakes
Most situations leave the amps as close to the speakers as possible to avoid long speaker runs. This is why snakes have line level returns. There are a few snakes out there designed for powered mixers with speaker wire built in, and you can order such cable custom from Rapco or other OEMs, but it's not usually a good idea.
In install work, amps can live at FOH if necessary, or really anywhere, because larger gauge wire can be used more easily.

99% of the time, things that aren't already being done aren't being done because they don't work. The other 1% is split evenly between fools and geniuses.

For an install yes, but I would much rather deal with one long/heavy snake than a bunch of long cables running from FOH and a snake as well.
