Four T-24 Four DR-200 build thread

#1 Post by J_Dunavin »

Eight pieces of Acuro, 1/2 in. a piece of 1/4, two pieces of 1/8 bendy ply, and the next 48 hours of build, build, build.
I know it can't ALL be done, but i am aiming for the tubas to be built and at least the dr driver and horn throat area.
Oh and here is a picture of the "other" plans :hyper: Can you guess the type... be specific now...

Looks like something that could fall out of the sky and kill you.

All I can figure out is that the RH fixture has three hinges, and the LH side has a foot long arm that is hinged and spring-loaded.
I'm stumped so far.

ahhaaha aerotuba!
Pro audio, speaker building and DJ'ing is only my hobby, my carrier is avionics tech. I also happen to have my mechanic, and pilot license. I am very blessed and lucky to be able to work on these:

And just recently I built this:

The picture is from our plans for this:

It's just an example, but it's called the Pietenpol. The history can be found here:

By the way this cut sheet lay out tool was very handy as i am able to tell it that i have eight sheets and i can program in all the cut pieces for the eight boxes and it layed it all out for me. It will greatly reduce my cut time.

+1 - This is the program used to make the cut schedule's you see in the purchased plans if I recall correctly. Very easy to use and still works, even on Windows 7 (amazing for its age!)

Building the camper.
My father has always been into aviation, started to get his license when we was a teenager, but never finished. Applied for flight school in the navy and scored high enough, but they were not taking pilots. So we are building this so we can go flying together. And by the time we finish i my son will also be able to have fun with it. He will be three in Feb.
For those interesed it is an all wood aicraft, minus the engine support and landing gear. Go ahead build a rib or two.. you'll get hooked!

Anyway I made a TON of sawdust yesterday! I have most of the rough cut pieces cut out, and am ready to start assembly today. ( For the Tubas, not the airplane )

Keep me posted on the airplane. My son and I have looked at those plans many times.
If it's too loud, you're even older than me! Like me.

did not get as far as i wanted to this weekend.
But i did manage to rebuild my mixing board rack, and build a new rack for my two peavey cex-l4a's and peavey EQ215.
I did get all the 4x8's ripped down and drew out the T24 horn path on the one side.
After all the T-39 posts, i really hope that i will be happy with my four t-24s. I did have one t-24 (old style, with a wrong driver, and apparently was not sealed up right) and i did like that. So I really hope that four of them will rock. Oh the plan is 20" width and BP102 loaded.

Leland,
The pietenpol will be a long project for us. My dad's and I schedule is pretty crazy these days. But I will keep posts going on the progress.
Oh and i got the beta 8 and bp102 this last week ok.
Thanks

This has been a very slow build, as time has been pretty tight around here. Which is good, we have been busy at work.
Anyway here are some pictures of the current progress. May not be the prettiest build, but should get the job done.
The picture of the top cab, in the stack, looks funny, but i was just in a hurry to get some pictures.
