I would really like to put the foam behind the screens.......guess I should have bought that when I got the grills. Just couldn't see $35 for a piece of foam.....of course, after all I've spent to build these things, it shouldn't have mattered.
A piece of air conditioner filter foam should cost a tenth that.

The only ones that I could find at the hardware store were gray so I just sprayed them real quick with some flat black spray paint and was good to go. They were like $3-$4 a piece.

Yeah, any hardware store will have them. They are only like 3/8" or 1/4" thick and come somewhat folded up in a plastic bag. They are the filters for window A/C units.

Yesterday, while looking for these in Home Depot - it finally struck me what ya'll were talking about. I was trying to picture this filter in a central AC unit.....then it finally hit me - window units. I've had some window units in some properties in the past and have seen and cleaned those before. HD didn't have them, but I'm sure I can find them now that I know what I'm looking for.
This is going to add the final touch.

BTW....used the boxes at practice last night. Worked just fine. Stacked a NSD2005 box on top of the melded box. Will be playing an outdoor gig tomorrow afternoon/night. That will be the real test to see how well the diffraction horn and the melded array play together.

They are officially in action. Played a gig at a country club tonight. That's the driving range behind us.
Stacked up two OT12s on each side and the subs are on the right side of the picture, V-plated behind the bass player....heeheehee....wasn't complaining about not hearing bass....in fact he was having a hard time distinguishing the notes he was playing. The bottom was obscuring the high end - had to crank the monitors so he could hear the definition.
Sound was great. Got a $100 tip in the second set and the guy that hired us tacked on an extra $200 over the agreed price.....feels good to be appreciated!

Oh, man. I'm living and working in Saudi Arabia right now, but before I moved out here, I was living in San Marcos. My folks are right over in Spring Branch. If I was back home I'd've come out and added to the appreciation for you guys. Nice set up, man.

To be honest, I'm not familiar . But I do know the area you're talking about where the golf course is.
I thought I'd revisit this one more time. I was waiting to finish the WH10s, so I could put all the foam backers on at one time. Finished that this morning.

I'm sure with a lot of critical listening, you could hear some differences. But, stack a CD OT12 on top of a Melded Array OT12, and it's sweet. The coupling really smooths out the mids and vocals are amazing.
The only real difference that I hear between the two is the dispersion of the melded arrays. It is definitely wider (120 deg) vs. the CD (90 deg). Check out Bryce's videos of my system. He walks from behind the speakers to the front - it really illustrates how good the Arrays are.
