There is no power rating for capacitors, only voltage.brodave2 wrote:on a low pass crossover, how many watts can a 250 volt capacitor handle?

Okay, so let me rephrase my question. Will a 250v capacitor handle 250v audio in a crossover? Lets say you have a speaker cab, 4ohm, rated at 800 watts. Will a 250v capacitor be adequate in the crossover?Bill Fitzmaurice wrote:There is no power rating for capacitors, only voltage.brodave2 wrote:on a low pass crossover, how many watts can a 250 volt capacitor handle?

Re: capacitor capacity
800W into 4Ω is 84V peak. I'd say 250V is plenty. That would be 7800W
