BBE DS48 vs DCX-2496
BBE DS48 vs DCX-2496
I could get a good deal on the BBE unit but not sure if it will be good for 2 X Otop12 and 2 X T39? I have heard good things about the Behringer unit except for the fact they are a little unreliable in terms of build quality...
I have also heard the delay on the BBE is limited so I don't know if I would have issues.

Re: BBE DS48 vs DCX-2496
My DCX 2496 is doing just fine so far, as all my Behringer gear (mixers and compressors) has over the 15 years I've been using it.loudsubz wrote:I could get a good deal on the BBE unit but not sure if it will be good for 2 X Otop12 and 2 X T39? Re: BBE DS48 vs DCX-2496
I can get a good deal on the BBE DS48, much cheaper than the DCX...but the thing holding me back is the maximum delay of 7.5ms on the BBS. Is that a deal breaker? Not sure if I will need to use more delay. I will just be using Otop12 and T39.
Re: BBE DS48 vs DCX-2496
I don't use any delay, so even 7.5ms is useless to me. I am running OT12s and T39s at 80% of my gigs.

Re: BBE DS48 vs DCX-2496
7.5ms should be ok or will get you close enough that it wont be noticeable. I started using delay and don't want to go back. Really notice the subs lagging with behind on the kick without it. Just seem to get more punch/kick with everything aligned properly. Even use it in the car with my TAT via mini dsp unit.
My dcx2496 did develop the 'frying egg noise' problem but that disapeared by itself.
Recently an equally annoying fault has occurred a few times where the unit has done a factory reset on itself when I switch it on. It starts up with all outputs muted and none of the stored settings, just factory pre sets.

Hey,
I'm not even sure why to use delay...what do you do with it on your subs and why?
Thanks!

Re: BBE DS48 vs DCX-2496
It is to compensate for the length of the horn path on the subs and for placement where the subs are far behind the tops. If the distance is large enough, you can tell the difference - especially the higher the frequency.doncolga wrote:Hey,

So if they're all in the same plane, do I need to mess with this? So if the subs are loaded on a wall behind me, and the tops are 8 feet in front of them, I should delay the tops 8 ms?Bruce Weldy wrote:It is to compensate for the length of the horn path on the subs and for placement where the subs are far behind the tops. Re: BBE DS48 vs DCX-2496
As a mobile DJ, this is a very rare occurrence. Most of the time the equipment is all too close together, not spread apart.
But IIRC, that's what a lot of guys were suggesting.

Re: BBE DS48 vs DCX-2496
Actually, if you are going to mess with it - add an additional 7ft (or whatever the horn length of T30s are) to the distance that the subs are behind the tops.doncolga wrote:So if they're all in the same plane, do I need to mess with this?
