My Otop 112 Build (pictures)

Started the build Saturday around noon, ended at 5:30, started today around noon, ended 4:30.

Hardest part working with my friend was the baffle. Once we figured out the first one and how to replicate it properly with the router we were golden. We figured these would be done in a day but the Tubas and Titan seem much easier when all you have is straight pieces on different angles.

Not really. A jig saw would put it to shame but I like that you can plunge cut with it easily, and the cutting width is very small from the blade so if your making a cutout for a access panel you can have a very tight fit when your cutout is done, with no waste.

Its good for certain jobs but for this one its not on my top list of tools to use, but I still use it once in awhile.

I noticed a lot of your cut edges are burnt. Did you buy a good blade? If not, a good blade will make things go a little easier, and the cuts will be cleaner and possibly even straighter.

Its not the blade its the fence. The table saw has an uber cheap fence system and if not clamped on both ends the end closest to the blade tends to bow inwards and puts pressure on the blade as you feed your material through. I have overcome this by adjusting both ends of the fence and clamping the rear seperately, but my partner didn't know about this and was forcing the material through which cause it to burn a lot.

The blade isn't the best in the world, but its an 80 tooth carbide tipped blade which cuts very well normally. I really need to get a good table saw, no mickey mousing anymore.

I have 2 saw sleds, but prefer the table saw when I want to rip the boards to the exact width when building the sub cabs. The sled works great for rough ripping.

Yeah. I like the simple build behind the titans, same width panels just a few different angles. The Otop looked simple to build but takes some time to cut out the smaller pieces and get the angles correct. Nothing impossible I guess it just threw me for a loop. I thought we would be done 4 of them in a day.
